Edventures And Mastercard Foundation Partner To Boost Egypt's Edtech Startup Scene

EdVentures, a prominent EdTech venture capital firm in the MENA region and the investment arm of Nahdet Misr Group, has recently announced a strategic five-year partnership with the Mastercard Foundation. This collaboration aims to launch the Mastercard Foundation EdTech Fellowship in Egypt, with the goal of revolutionizing the African EdTech sector through digital innovation, inclusivity, and youth empowerment. The impact of this initiative is expected to be significant, not only in Egypt's educational, IT, and economic landscapes but also in the overall development of the region.
The selection process for the 2024 program was rigorous, involving the evaluation of more than 210 applicants from EdTech startups across various governorates in Egypt. After a meticulous assessment, 12 startups were chosen to participate in an intensive 8-month program. This program will provide them with specialized training, mentorship, workshops, networking opportunities, and access to valuable courses. Joseph Nsengimana, the Director for the Mastercard Foundation Centre for Innovative Teaching and Learning, emphasized the importance of this partnership in enhancing access to quality learning for underserved learners in Egypt and Africa. Through local technological solutions, they are making a difference in the lives of millions of learners. In 2023 alone, their EdTech Fellowship cohorts in South Africa, Nigeria, and Kenya reached an impressive 2.6 million learners. With the collaboration with EdVentures, they anticipate an even greater impact this year.
