Universal Technical Institute (UTI) has partnered with iRacing to enhance the NASCAR Mechanic Technician Training at NASCAR Technical Institute in Mooresville, North Carolina. This collaboration integrates iRacing's virtual racing simulations into the curriculum, offering students hands-on experience alongside their 15-week practical training in engines, fabrication, and chassis applications. Scott Kazura, an instructor at UTI, praised the initiative for enabling students to apply theoretical knowledge practically and gain insights into vehicle adjustments and handling in a virtual environment.

NASCAR, a key partner of UTI, commended the collaboration as a means to provide students with industry-relevant experiences. Michelle Byron, NASCAR's Senior Vice President of Partnership Marketing, emphasized the contributions of UTI in preparing future technicians and iRacing in identifying racing talent and informing venue decisions. Brandon Eidem, a 2023 NASCAR Tech graduate now working at Team Penske, highlighted the benefits of using iRacing software during training, citing its role in understanding vehicle adjustments on the track. iRacing President Tony Gardner expressed enthusiasm for the collaboration, noting iRacing's role as a crucial development tool in the motorsports industry, aiding in projects such as the NASCAR Cup Series Next Gen car and the creation of new track configurations.
