The Early Life of Spaniard Carolina Marin

Carolina was born on June 15, 1993, in Huelva, Spain, to Gonzalo Marín Pérez and Toni Martin. Her mother was a flamenco dancer, and Carolina showed signs of becoming a professional dancer. However, fate had another plan for her, and she decided to play badminton with all her heart and passion. Marin underwent training at the IES La Orden in Huelva and later at the National Centre in Madrid. Under the skilled coaching of Fernando Rivas, she evolved into an explosive player with speed and agility.

She won a silver medal at the 2009 European Junior Championships and brought laurels to Spain by becoming the first Spanish player to achieve the feat. The same year, she won gold at the European U-17 Junior Championships and the Irish International tournament. She also won the 2011 European Junior Championships and secured a bronze at the World Junior Championships.

In 2013, she became the first Spaniard to win a Grand Prix Gold after securing the first position at the London Grand Prix. She also won her first European Championships title during the same year. She won gold at the Copenhagen World Championships and European Championships in 2014.

2015 was a golden year for Carolina because she won the England Open Championship, Malaysia Open, Australian Open, French Open, and Hong Kong Open.
