60 MB/s with LTO-3 half height drive
120 MB/s with LTO-4 half-height & full-height drives
140 MB/s with LTO-5 half-height & full-height drives

IBM TS3100 library features 2 removable cartridge magazines. Each cartridge magazine has slots for 12 tape cartridges. These cartridge magazines are located on the left and right side of the tape library. In addition to this, a single mail slot has been included in the left cartridge magazine, which allows you to import and export the media during library operations to assure unmatched performance and improved efficiency. The barcode reader further supports the archival and backup operations in random/sequential access mode.

For improved media compatibility, IBM has introduced 6 GB/s SAS and 8 GB/s fibre channel interfaces for LTO-5 ultrium drives.
