Most bariatric supplements that are added to the bariatric surgery diet include minerals, vitamins and meal replacements. These bariatric supplements are especially important since a patient who has just undergone bariatric surgery has to take small portions of foods. Small food portions more often than not mean less vitamins and minerals. Bariatric surgery diets often contain high protein levels and a lot of fibre and all these limit the amount of food one can eat after having the size of the gastrointestinal tract reduced. Bariatric Food Products have started a new line of bariatric supplements to make their Bariatric surgery diet whole.
A popular form of bariatric supplements is Probiotics. Probiotics supplement the bariatric surgery diet to help maintain the appropriate assemblage of a healthy digestive system. These bariatric supplements also help in maintaining bowel health, bowel regularity, immunity and carbohydrate absorption. A common type of Probiotics used is acidophilus. Another example of these bariatric supplements is a formulation that is made up of bifid ...

Bariatric Food Products also include Omega-3 as part of their main bariatric surgery diet supplements. Omega-3 bariatric supplements are used to boost general health after the surgery. It benefits almost every vital organ from the skin to the bowels to one's mental health. Omega-3 in the fish capsules-bariatric supplements has 180mg EPA and 125mg DHA. There are also flavoured Omega-3 bariatric supplements capsules which have 200mg DHA and 300mg EPA.
Another supplement for bariatric surgery diet is calcium. Calcium bariatric supplements come in the form of either a carbonate or citrate. They may come in the form of crystals which are dissolved in water or as chewy treats. Each calcium bariatric supplements dose may provide anything between 400mg to 600mg of calcium. The difference between the carbonate and citrate forms of these bariatric supplements is that the carbonate form requires a much more acidic stomach than the calcium citrate form.
Protein bariatric supplements can also be used to complete the bariatric surgery diet. The most common sources for these bariatric supplements include soy, whey and rice. They are manufactured to be in smoothies-form to complement the bariatric surgery diet. Rice protein is a particularly good bariatric supplement since it is gluten free and low in fat and sugar. Soy is a good supplement for bariatric surgery diet as it is vegetable based and therefore cholesterol free.
