The Htc Hd Mini: Undeservedly Underrated
When it comes to smartphones, touch screen mobile phones are the bosses of the market right now, which has seen many manufacturers struggling to shell out the best and the latest touch screen phones on their line up.
One such manufacturer is HTC, which has been receiving mostly favourable reviews for their excellent and stable phones that utilize a number of good OS' such as Google's Android and Windows Mobile. The HTC HD Mini runs on the latter, but is nevertheless very impressive for such a (relatively) small touch screen smartphone.
Judging by the Cover
Of course, we all begin by looking at the look and feel of the phone, and here the HTC HD Mini delivers more than enough to keep you satisfied. It feels solid and is light enough, with a plastic grip friendly back and side the only stops when the glass front screen starts. It looks smooth, classy and sophisticated with its square-ish design and minimalist feel.
Using it ...
... is easy, with a good user interface as well as a very responsive set of shortcut buttons at the bottom of the screen - which are also touch based. The screen of the Mini measures 3.2 inches with a 320x480 resolution, with the only unfortunate characteristic being the difficulty of using it under direct sunlight. Indoors, the screen exhibits no problems at all. Since the phone is a bit small, some users might find it difficult at first to type on the virtual keys on the QWERTY keyboard when the phone is at a portrait orientation/The user interface is quite easy to use especially with a very set of shortcut buttons at the bottom of the screen - which are also touch based. Since the phone is a bit small, some users might find it difficult at first to type on the virtual keys on the QWERTY keyboard when the phone is at a portrait orientation.
Under the Hood
The CPU, for one, is very impressive, with the Mini sporting a 528MHz processor and has the Windows Mobile platform as its operating system. Applications are very well integrated into the system, particularly the ones for Facebook and Twitter. Of course having the mobile versions of MS office - Excel and Word - is a very big plus, especially for people who like to work on their phones. Memory is also expandable, enabling you to go up until 32GB/The CPU is very impressive with the Mini sporting a 528MHz processor and has the Windows Mobile platform as its operating system. It is also noteworthy to mention the Mini's camera, which can take very good pictures with above average quality for a built-in camera phone/It is worth mentioning that this phone's camera can take pretty good pictures with above average quality for a built-in camera phone. The delay after you click the shutter button is minimal making it less prone to accidental blurring. Video recording is not bad, but not good either.
Wi-Fi and 3G come standard, with the phone connecting with ease and speed to either/With standard Wi-Fi and 3G support, the phone can be connected to internet with ease and speed. {The battery life also scores some plus points, with the 1,200mAh cell giving the phone much more battery life than the common run of touch screen smartphones/The battery life also performs better than the common run of touch screen smartphones with the 1,200mAh cell]. Call quality is also excellent, despite the fact that the speaker on top is a bit too high.
In Conclusion
For a small phone, the HTC HD Mini packs a very effective punch, and can be considered as a legitimate purchase if you cannot afford the higher end touch screen phones/For a small phone, the HTC HD Mini is furnished with effective features and could be a best choice if you cannot afford the higher end touch screen phones. The user interface, while having a bit of a learning curve required before you can use it properly, is still very easy to use once you get the hang of it. The size may be a turn off to others who like a bigger touch screen to play around in, while some are more inclined towards it being much more portable and much less space consuming. It's a phone definitely worth considering.
