... LTO consortium has decided to further extend the roadmap of LTO tape generations. This is really great news for the users of LTO technology and those who are planning to adopt the industry leading LTO tape products.

Roadmap of LTO leads to the 8th generation with a clear vision for future storage demands. Two new generations including LTO-7 and LTO-8 have been introduced to the roadmap of LTO roadmap. The native capacity offering of LTO-8 and LTO-7 will be 12.8 TB and 6.4 TB respectively.

Data compression ratio of these new LTO tape generations has been enhanced from 2:1 to 2.5:1. According to this rate, the LTO-8 ultrium cartridge will hold 32 TB compressed data and LTO-7 ultrium tape with 16 TB. These are really massive storage capacities that will enable the organizations to handle the avalanche of enormous data volumes.

So far LTO consortium has released five LTO generations. High performance LTO tape technology efficiently addresses the cost control objectives and allows you to accommodate huge data volumes within lesser space. Few of the best selling LTO cartridges have been listed below:
