Alipay and Trip.com Collaborate to Enhance International Tourist Experience in China
Alipay, a leading digital payment and lifestyle service platform, has joined forces with top online travel agencies, including Trip.com and Tuniu, to launch exclusive tour packages and a comprehensive travel guide on the Alipay app. The initial offering comprises 20 packages, featuring English-speaking guides at popular attractions like the Palace Museum, Badaling Great Wall, Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding, Jiuzhaigou National Park, Shaolin Temple, Shanghai Disney Resort, and the Bund, with some attractions offering up to a 20% discount.

In addition to tour packages, Alipay and Trip.com introduced a China Travel Guide within the app, offering detailed information on pre-travel checklists, visa applications, attractions, hotels, mobile payment, communication, transport, and booking services. The collaboration aims to enhance the experience for inbound tourists and attract more international travelers to China.

From December 1, 2023, to November 30, 2024, travelers from France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Spain, and Malaysia holding ordinary passports can enjoy visa-free entry to China for up to 15 days, facilitating business, tourism, family visits, and transit.

Jiqiang Wang, Vice General Manager of Digital Marketing at Trip.com, expressed the company's commitment to increasing the number of inbound tourists served in 2024 by over 150% compared to 2019. Furthermore, international tourists from seven countries and regions, including Malaysia and Singapore, can use their home e-wallets while traveling in China. Supported e-wallets include AlipayHK, mPay, Touch 'n Go eWallet, Kakao Pay, Hipay, Changi Pay, OCBC, Naver Pay, Toss Pay, and TrueMoney.
