A Daily Routine To Care For Your Skin Is Not Negotiable
Almost every woman, and certainly many men too, are aware of how they look to others, which is an important reason for looking after one’s skin since the skin and the eyes are those body parts that other people first notice about us. For healthy, glowing skin it is a good idea to follow, say, a dermatologist approved skin care routine as these professionals understand the skin and the potential problems people have to deal with.
SKIN TYPES
It is important to identify what your skin type is and to follow a routine that best suits the type for ongoing healthy, glowing skin:
• Sensitive skin type – this type of skin is sensitive to too much sunlight. The person with sensitive skin may also experience a stinging sensation when they use certain skin products. Therefore they should ask the dermatologist for a recommendation for sensitive skin in terms of all of the skin products they use.
• Dry skin type – the surface of this skin type is often itchy or flaky and gets irritated if you do not apply the corrects skin products and serums on a regular basis.
• Oily skin type – this type ...
... often appears shiny and wet.
• Normal skin type – this is the skin we all aspire to have as it appears clear, clean and is not sensitive.
• Combination skin type this type appears oily in parts, and dry in others.
TIPS TO CONSIDER
Dermatologists are the people that see all skin types and medical skin conditions every day, and they are the professionals whose advice one can listen to. It is always good to consult a good dermatologist for advice about your skin type and to consider their recommendations about the best skin care regimen for your type. A few tips offered by these professionals follow here below to help prevent unhealthy skin:
• Follow a good, regular cleansing routine, followed by a toner and the moisturizers recommended for your skin type. This should be done mornings and at night time before you go to bed.
• Wear sunscreen as it protects the skin against the harmful effects of UV rays, which can cause sunburn, cancers, premature ageing and lines in your face, on your forehead and neck. Remember, too, that sunscreen can never block out all UV effects, so try to limit your hours in the sun.
• Keep it simple. That does not mean you have to limit yourself to a point where you use nothing. It only means that using too many products all at once may irritate your skin, especially if you use too many anti-aging products for example. But make sure you follow a morning and night time routine. A gentle cleanser and moisturizer for your skin type is a good start.
• Make sure you check your skin all the time for signs such as acne breakouts, and the possibility of skin cancer too. Melanoma, skin cancer, is a real threat to which millions of people succumb worldwide every year. Look for itchy moles, moles that change color and shape, suspicious spots. This is important. When skin cancer is detected early, the survival rate is high.
PRODUCTS
Ask your dermatologist about specific products for your skin type, right from cleansers to toners, moisturizers and serums that may be good for your skin. Leading dermatologists offer more than advice and treatment; they often have certain skin products available in their rooms, or they can advise the patient who to approach for the best options. Of course there are many products in the market; your dermatologist will know which the better ones are. Discuss this with her/him.
A proper skin care routine, as discussed with your dermatologist, is your first defense against quick-aging, unhealthy and unattractive skin.
