They decided to establish the school on 260 acres of barren land in Gachibowli, adjacent to a central university. On September 19, 1998, the Andhra Pradesh TDP government, led by Naidu, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to formalize the establishment of ISB in Hyderabad. The foundation stone was laid on December 20, 1999, and former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee inaugurated the Indian School of Business on December 2, 2001.
