SOME BACKGROUND

In those years it was customary to use a transconjunctival approach which is still used today, i.e. whereby an incision is made through the conjunctiva (a mucous membrane that lines the inside of your eyelids)of the lower eyelid to affect skin and fat resection. Another, more ‘modern’ technique was developed and in the 1950s the so-called subtractive blepharoplasty became widely known among cosmetic eye surgeons.
