As soon as you go inside, you find out that Maksh has been kidnapped by the criminal and is being kept as a prisoner; thus, you are on your own from this point forward. At the bar, you will have the opportunity to converse with a wide variety of interesting people; thus, choose someone who seems to be a plausible suspect and chat with him, her, or it. Because you have been taught to employ "empathy telepathy" in your role as a corporation policeman, after you have been conversing with a character for some time, you may have a flashback in which you re-live that individual's most recent memories. This takes place on the player's home planet and includes the sequence of events that lead up to the character landing at the Space Bar. It is useful in that it involves occurrences. These flashbacks are essentially short experiences in which you 'become' the character and experience events from their point of view. Each narrative stands on its own, and in order to discover why each character went to the spacebar clicker in the first place, you have to figure out how to solve the riddles they encountered and get over the challenges they ...
... experienced on the way there.
For instance, if you are a Vedj with the name Seedrot, you are a young, sentient plant form who is not permitted to leave home and join the "rebels" until you have produced your first fruit. This restriction is in place to ensure the survival of the species. Or, if you are a Neblitzi named Fleebix, you have a somewhat vexing symbiotic connection with a Salivraster named Thud. This relationship may also be described as parasitic. Because you are trapped in a jar of unclean water, you have to rely on Thud to do all of your tasks for you. Thud, much like the other members of his species, is a little on the sluggish side, but he is always eager to please. Hey, I was a fan of Thud, and I've had the pleasure of interacting with many Salivrasters in my day. Due to the fact that it took me a very long time to figure out how to board a bus, I even entertained the idea that we could be related at one point.
There were also a few more challenges that consumed a great deal of time, but nothing is insurmountable if you keep your wits about you and remain vigilant. The Auditon vine labyrinth was one of my favorites, and even if it didn't make me want to switch careers, haggling over the price of a planet kept me occupied for a very long time.
You will be awarded with a piece of knowledge after completing each flashback phase, and this information will eventually help you track down the culprit who committed the crime in the bar. Keep in mind that this is the reason you got here in the first place. Always remember to save your game on a frequent basis, since it is quite possible to get kicked out of a flashback, and doing so will allow you to avoid having to play back large portions of the game more than once. However, "good old-fashioned gaming" only refers to Space Bar to a certain extent since the primary component is both inventive and original. Because Alias has the ability to mind-meld with some of the aliens in the bar, you are able to complete a total of eight side missions, each of which takes place inside the memories and from the point of view of a different alien body. In one of the minigames, you take on the role of a rooted tree that has to find out how to blossom, despite the fact that all you can do is swivel around in place. You play the role of a smart-talking blob that is contained inside a jar, and your objective is to convince your mentally challenged buddy to move both of you to a certain location. You will see the world through the segmented vision of an insect in one vignette, and then from the perspective of a jar lying on the ground in another. The appearance and feel of the game's first-person point of view will shift correspondingly. Even though this may seem like a gimmick at times, it really pushes you to completely submerge yourself in these worlds and even think in the strange ways that are required to accomplish the puzzles.

To Meretzky's great credit, even though the puzzles are difficult, they never have the artificial and overbearing quality of many of the other hurdles in the game. In one of the extraterrestrial worlds, you will definitely be tasked with repairing a town clock by determining which crystals go where and in what sequence. In addition to this, you will need to safely transfer an alien egg via a certain sequence of chambers, canals, and rails without destroying the egg. However, these dilemmas are woven into the settings in a way that is believable. Even though the game is not really played in real time, the design gives you the impression that you are working inside a live theater with which you need to maintain pace. This is somewhat similar to the most current iteration of Last Express.

But there's no getting around the fact that Space Bar seems to cater mostly to seasoned players. The answers are not straightforward and might be challenging. The majority of them are logical (of course, in retrospect), but they take a significant amount of trial and error, which many players may find to be tiresome. You also have plenty of opportunities to make mistakes, which might result in you being sent back to the beginning of an alien flashback episode or eliminated from the game entirely. Meretzky and Company have also supplied a number of dead ends, which means that you may go down the incorrect road for a long time until anything points you in the right direction.
