Is The Idea To Sell Your Old Phone Online Safe?
Lately, the frequency at which the smartphone brands are launching smartphones is fad! Anytime a new smartphone comes in the market, you get the impulse to purchase it and update your current smartphone.
Considering all the fresh additions in features, they market for their new launch. Nonetheless, once you have decided to update, you can sell your old phone on the online platforms that offer the best value for your smartphone and you can use that money to purchase a new smartphone.
But there is one issue, and that is you are not an adept salesman. No worries! You don’t have to be one to sell a phone to get the best price. There are many online platforms where you can exhibit your phone and wait for the best offers.
Most of us have doubts regarding whether selling a phone online is the best thing to do or not. It is not always the case where you have a negative experience while selling a phone online. But just to be on the safe side, here are a few hazards and how you can safeguard yourself against them:
1. Security of data
Speaking ...
... on Android phones, they don’t have much safer way to delete the data. Even in case you reset the phone, it is still likely that your data can be recovered. Any person with some technical knowledge can recover the data.
So before going out and selling your phone just after formatting, try loading it with random videos, music and images. After that, you can carry out a factory reset on the phone. You can do this process as many times you want to. The process removes the old data, and even if someone accesses your data, all they will get is some random videos and images.
If you are selling an iPhone, you can just navigate through the settings and by doing that, everything on your smartphone will be completely erased including messages, logs, calls, media files etc.
2. Stay away from too keen buyers
If a seller appears too keen to purchase the phone even without examining it personally, in most cases such a buyer turns out to be a fraudster.
3. Don’t share any delicate information
When I plan to sell my old phone, I always ensure that the invoice I share with the buyer doesn’t have my private information such as a phone number and a home address. Be sure to get it edited to prevent misuse of information.
In case you require any ID proof like your PAN card or Adhar Card details, be sure the personal details are derived from them and add the purpose for which the documents will be shared on the copy only. This restricts the ways through which documents can be misused.
