The 2023 Asian Games will be held in Hangzhou, China, from September 23 to October 8. The games were initially scheduled for 2022 but were postponed due to COVID-19. The 15-day event will feature 40 sports, and athletes from all over Asia will compete for top honours.

The games will feature 482 events in 40 sports, including newly added esports and breakdancing. Over 10,000 athletes from 45 countries are expected to compete. The opening ceremony will be held at the Hangzhou Olympic Sports Center, and the closing ceremony will be held at the Hangzhou Olympic Sports Stadium. The mascot for the games is a panda named "Àihuā" (爱化), which means "lovely flower" in Chinese.

The Asian Games are the second largest multi-sport event in the world after the Olympic Games. They are a chance for athletes from all over Asia to compete in a variety of sports and showcase their talents to the world. India at the Asian Games

India has a long and storied history at the Asian Games. The country has participated in every edition of the games since the inaugural event in 1951 and has won a total of 672 medals, including 155 golds. In recent years, Indian participation in the Asian Games has increased significantly. At the 2018 Asian Games in Jakarta, India sent a contingent of 570 athletes to compete in 36 different sports. This was the most prominent Indian contingent ever sent to the Asian Games.

India has a unique historical connection to the Asian Games. The country hosted the inaugural event in 1951 and finished second in the medal table behind Japan. India has also hosted the Asian Games on two other occasions, in 1982 and 1998.

India will be looking to improve their medal tally at the 2023 Asian Games. Their best finish was in 2018 when they won a total of 70 medals. India has won a total of 672 medals in the Asian Games, including 155 gold medals.

Football
The men's football event at the Asian Games has been an under-23 competition since 2002, with each team allowed a maximum of three players over the age of 23.

The Indian men's football team has been drawn in Group A alongside hosts China, Bangladesh, and Myanmar.

India has won two gold medals (1951, 1962) and one bronze medal (1970) in the men's football event at the Asian Games. The 2023 Asian Games will be the 16th appearance of the Indian men's football team at the event.
