If you’re a working American, you likely drink coffee. Those few cups of joe can help you get through the day. Still, you should know something about your java: it often leads to coffee breath. Left unchecked, this issue will make your mouth pretty smelly. Fortunately, you can get rid of the odor with the right habits. Many dental professionals even offer tips and suggestions. To learn a few for yourself, just keep reading – you’ll be rid of your coffee breath in no time!

The Causes of Coffee Breath
Much of the time, coffee breath stems from two factors: coffee’s chemicals and dry mouth.

Remember, coffee is a unique beverage. It’s made by roasting special beans (or pits) from bright red berries. This roasting, in turn, produces sulfur-laced aroma compounds. These can then combine with coffee’s acidity to worsen your breath.

At the same time, coffee also causes dry mouth. That latter condition dries up the saliva all around your oral cavity. In doing so, it lets your mouth bacteria multiply and release sulfur gas.

Tips to Get Rid of Coffee Breath
Fortunately, it’s not that ...
... hard to get rid of lingering coffee breath. All you have to do is follow the proper oral habits. In particular, consider the tips below:
• Brush Your Teeth After Coffee – As you might expect, you can remove smelly bacteria and leftover coffee by brushing your teeth. The practice is even more effective if you include fluoridated toothpaste. However, toothpastes with zinc or clove oil are also useful.
• Have a Mint or Chew Sugar-Free Gum: Whether you chew a mint or sugar-free gum, the substance will clear out the taste (and breath) of coffee.
• Gargle with Mouthwash: Like toothpaste, fluoridated mouthwash gets rid of germs and leftover coffee. smelly bacteria and leftover coffee. Being a liquid, though, it’ll do a better job of relieving your dry mouth.
• Drink Lots of Water: By drinking a large glass of water, you’ll relieve your dry mouth and wash away coffee debris.

Can You Avoid Coffee Breath in the First Place?

You see, research suggests cream and sugar aggravate coffee breath. Bacteria feed on these things, producing sulfuric aromas as a result. That being said, you could simply give up the add-ins or consider substitutes.

Ultimately, coffee breath shouldn’t hold you back from a daily caffeine fix. Follow the tips above, then, and talk to your local dentist for help!
