Cost Efficient Ait-5 Tape Media Technology By Sony
Public organizations, businesses and financial institutions are producing vast amounts of data. Availability, integrity and protection of this mission-critical data are very crucial for efficient business operations and organization's success. This is where the IT managers have to make careful decisions in selecting the best optimal backup storage technology that best fits their I.T environments. Reliability, compatibility and performance are three major attributes of every backup storage technology that are carefully inspected by the I.T managers. AIT (advanced intelligent tape) format delivers unbeatable reliability, outstanding compatibility and exceptional performance at an affordable price.
Sony's media storage devices have established new standards for affordability, media robustness, reliability and scalability. AIT is a reliable and efficient format, which has been engineered by Sony. AIT format has a proven record, and is the top choice for the small and mid-sized enterprises. High performance AIT tape technology offers rock solid reliability and scalability backed by the Sony's commitment to technological ...
... innovation, standardization and superior quality.
Sony AIT-e1040SLE is a highly robust tape drive that represents the AIT format's fifth version. It is an external SCSI drive that delivers higher capacity up to 1040 GB in compressed mode. Sony AIT-5 tape technology enables the customers to cost effectively optimize the backup storage performance in data centers, desktop workstations and demanding backup applications. AIT backup tape technology is more advantageous than other media formats because AIT drives feature 2.6:1 data compression. AIT5 drive attains data transfer rate of 24 Mbps (native). SDX5-CL, Sony AIT-5 cleaning cartridge is best for the AIT5 tape drives. Sony AIT-e1040SLE AIT-5 drive is read/write compatible with the below listed AIT tapes:
Sony AIT-5 tapes
SDX5-400W and SDX5-400C
Sony AIT-3 media tapes
SDX3-100C and SDX3-100W
Sony AIT-3EX tape
SDX3X150CWW
Sony AIT 4 backup tapes
SDX4200CWW tape, SDX4200WWW and SDX4-200C
Three new innovative technical mechanisms including AME-III (advance media evaporated), Magneto resistive (MR) heads and dynamic tracking have been incorporated in Sony AIT-5 tape drive and media. These innovative features enable the AIT5 drive to deliver excellent results in automated tape libraries.
Sony AIT-5 tape devices ensure greater value through their longer archival life. The AIT5 tape cartridges perform excellently reaching up to 30,000 passes, while the tape drives feature head life of 50,000 hours. For regulatory compliance and long term protection, WORM media has been introduced in AIT5 tape format.
Sony AIT-e1040SLE drive and the Sony SDX5-400W cartridge both support the WORM functionality. On the other hand SDX5-400C is a rewritable AIT5 cartridge. This provides more flexibility and you can select the AIT-5 media cartridge that best suits with your backup needs. You can prohibit the unintentional data over-writes, accidental file deletions and assure long-term compliance storage by using the WORM feature offered by AIT-5.
Increased media capacity of AIT-5 tape reduces handling, because the data administrators will have to work with fewer tapes, and still manage to accommodate their massive data amounts. Backward compatibility and reduction in human interventions will ultimately save the costs and enhance the overall efficiency. Dynamic tracking system strengthens the output frequency by automatically controlling the head position during read & write operations. Sony AIT technology enables you to efficiently scale your I.T infrastructure to optimize the performance.
