Latino Entrepreneur – Funding And Event Options
Latinos represent the fastest growing demographic of entrepreneurs in the United States today and are the fastest growing economy segment. They are highly entrepreneurial and contribute billions to the US economy each year. Latino owned and operated businesses make up fourteen percent of thirty three million businesses in the United States, approximately 4.65 million businesses owned and operated by Latinos.
Research shows that Latino owned businesses have seen a staggering thirty four percent growth rate and outpace one percent growth among business owners. There is a six percent decline in white owned businesses on a national scale. There has been a massive growth of self employed Latinos when compared to other demographics. Forty four of every ten thousand Latino adults become entrepreneurs, when compared to twenty nine Caucasians, twenty four African Americans and thirty one Asians.
One of the biggest obstacles for Latino entrepreneurs is securing the funding they need to grow and expand their businesses. This is what stops the majority of these business owners from starting their entrepreneurial journey. They ...
... are the most under funded businesses in the United States today with only half of the new businesses applying for funding with a very high rejection rating, mostly because many don't have the necessary credit history.
The good news is that through events and venture capitalists, along with other non-profits, there are some excellent opportunities for Latino entrepreneurs to secure funding and grow their businesses moving forward.
L'ATTITUDE is the first worth mentioning. This is an annual based conference, focusing on the New Mainstream Economy and the US Latino cohort that drives it. The conference focuses on the Latino entrepreneur, providing valuable information and opportunities, including networking opportunities, meeting influencer's and meeting angel investors and venture capitalists to push their businesses forward. L'ATTITUDE holds an event known as Match-Up, which is new Latino businesses in the early stages looking for investors to grow their businesses. It involves pitching the business to secure interest from the investors at the event.
LAT-VC is another excellent opportunity for Latino entrepreneurs. LAT-VC is a venture capital firm that only provides funding to Latino owned and operated businesses in the United States. They have some set criteria that must be met, but overall they have invested millions in the past few years to Latino entrepreneurs providing funding, mentoring and more.
Accion is a non profit financial institution that offers financial support to Latino and other minority owned businesses. They operate throughout the United States, supporting businesses throughout the country offering loans with a low interest rate. Businesses must be operating for a minimum of twelve months with a generating annual income of at least $50,000.
In addition to this, Latino entrepreneurs can turn to Grant.gov, a US government organization that offers federal government grands to all businesses, including Latino owned businesses. There is different criteria that must be met with science and technology having a higher success rate of being approved.
The US Hispanic Chamber of Commerce is another option for Latino entrepreneurs looking for funding. This is the largest Hispanic business organization in the United States, promoting economic growth of Latino owned businesses. They have partnered with financial services offering numerous grants to qualified locals.
Still unsure? As a Latino entrepreneur, you have probably used your personal savings or approached your family and friends for money to help you start and grow your business with the knowledge that securing funding is not an easy task. Attending a national based conference designed for you can help you get the knowledge and assistance you need to drive your business forward in the future.
