Trek card is a digital entry system which is recently introduce in Khambu valley. This digital entry system in Khambu serves as a digital entry permits for all the trekkers and international tourist who is entering in Khambu area. The visitor safety tracking system implemented by Khambu Pasanglamu Rural municipality. This trek card is no different than the ATM card. It has Qr code which tell you more about the travelers along with their passport details and the trek they are doing. We can also scan or tab the card to access necessary information about region via mobile device or tab. According to the Trek card the trek stands for Trekking, Recreation and expedition in Khambu.

Answer: Local government announced that trek card will effective from 23th September 2022 but the practice came later.

Where we can get Trek card?

Answer: At the moment the trek card is registered only in lukla. As soon as you land on Tenzing Hiillary airport you will have breakfast or tea and start walking through local house and markets. When you pass the Pashang lhambu gate you will see a new building where you can registries and get this Trek Card.

How is the Registration Process?

Answer: First of all the official over there will provide you a slip of form. On this form you need to write your personal information along with the emergency contact details. The contact details need to be your family or close friends. Parents contact details is highly appreciated and easy to contact if any things or issues. Once you done with the form, you need to give this back to authorities along with your passport. After that they will call individually near the camera where they take photo. As soon as the registration process finished they will call you near with entrance fee for trek card as well as national park. After all this you are allowed to trek further.

How many registration and check point for this Trek card?

Answer: Until now lukla is only the place where they do the trek card registration. May be later they will do the registration on every check point which is not possible at this current time. There are 3 check post beside lukla at the moment where they check trek card. The first place is Toktok, second is Monjo and third is in Namche.

How much is the Trek card cost?

Answer: The trek card do not cost you extra money. Before it’s called khambu Municipality charges and national park fee which is 3500 NPR for SAARC nations people and 5000 NPR for other country people.

Is the Trek card cost same or old and child too?

Answer: The trek card cost for the aged people is same as the adult but if the trekkers is less than 10 years old it’s free for his or her.
Is it possible to show passport copies instead of passport?
Answer: Yes it is possible to show passport copies instead of passport but the copies need to be color. Make sure its color before showing to the municipality visitor’s registration desk.

Which trekking needs to have trekking card in khambu region?

Answer: All the trekking including Everest base camp trek, Everest base camp, Luxury Trek, Everest base camp yoga trek, Everest high pass trek, Gokyo valley trek need to have trek card. Even the traveler till Namche have to have this trek card. If foreigner would like to cross lukla village and go further he she need to have this trek card.

Answer: Until now there is no any such system for this trek card to those people doing Everest base camp helicopter tour but things may change later. Now you only need to pay for the nation park entrance fee on Everest view hotel. This is the day tour so trek card may not be implemented for those persons.

Do you think trek card will start in Annapurna, langtang and other trekking regions?

Answer: There is not any such news about the trek card in Annapurna, langtang or any other parts of Nepal but things may change later. If there is any changes on the things then magic Himalaya treks will update about it.

Answer: Yes it is compulsory to make trek card for all people taking Everest base camp trails.

Do they check trek card in Phortse tenga?

Answer: No they do not check trek card in phortse tenga but they might change the rules in future. The military check post here check your national park permits along with trek guide details.
