Armod 150 mg tablet contains a chemical known as armodafinil, which belongs to the group of medicines called wakefulness-promoting agents. This medication is used to improve wakefulness in patients with sleep disorders like narcolepsy (uncontrollable daytime sleepiness), shift work sleep disorder and obstructive sleep apnea/hypopnea syndrome (OSAHS). Armodafinil modulates the levels of chemical messengers within the brain and exerts a stimulant effect to reduce extreme sleepiness as well as enhance cognitive function.

It comes as a tablet to take by mouth, usually once daily with or without food. The dose depends on the condition being treated and the patient's age, weight and doctor's recommendation. Follow the prescription given by your doctor to avoid overdose and serious side effects.

This drug should not be taken during pregnancy and breastfeeding because it may harm the unborn baby or pass through breast milk. Also, this drug should not be used by patients who have a history of heart disease or high blood pressure because it increases the risk of side effects such as fast heart rate and high blood pressure.

Some common side effects of this medicine include headache, dizziness, stomach upset, tremors, back pain, rash and sweating. Rare side effects of this medicine may include hallucinations, mania, depression, aggression and suicidal thoughts. If these side effects occur, contact your doctor immediately.

You should not consume alcohol while taking this medication. It may decrease alertness and affect your ability to drive, operate machinery or perform other dangerous tasks. You should also use alternative methods of birth control while taking this medication and for 1 month afterward, to prevent unwanted pregnancy.

If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and continue with your normal dosage schedule. Overdose of this drug can cause serious side effects such as mania, depression, hallucinations, suicidal thoughts and trouble breathing.
