Hey there! I’m so excited to share with you some of my best dog training tips. As a proud dog parent of a sweet Border Collie named Zara, I’ve learned a lot about what works (and what doesn’t) when it comes to training your furry friend. Whether you are going for your dog potty train or teach an old dog some new tricks, I hope these tips will come in handy.

Remember though that training your dog takes time, patience, and consistency. Always use positive reinforcement and never punish your dog for making mistakes. With the right tools and techniques, you can train your dog to be a well-behaved and obedient companion.

Keep also in mind that every dog is unique, and what works for one may not work for another. Be flexible in your approach and willing to adjust your training methods as needed.

And above all, enjoy the process! Training your dog can be a fun and rewarding experience for both you and your furry friend. With the right mindset and a little bit of effort, you can build a strong bond with your dog and help them reach their full potential.

Dog Training Tips: Dog Potty Training
Let’s ...
... start with dog potty training. This can be one of the most challenging parts of owning a new puppy, but with some patience and consistency, you can get your pup on the right track.

First things first: establish a routine. Take your dog outside first thing in the morning, after meals, and before bedtime. Use always the same command like “go potty” or “do your business” to encourage them to do their thing.

When Zara was a puppy, we used a designated area in our yard where we wanted her to go potty. We would take her there every time, and eventually, she learned that was the spot to do her business.

Dog potty training will be successful if you praise your pup when they go potty outside, and don’t punish them for accidents inside. It takes time and patience, but eventually, your pup will get the hang of it.

Dog Training Collars

Dog training collars can be a helpful tool when used correctly. There are a few different types of collars, but the two most common are the choke chain and the prong collar.Dog Training TipsPersonally, I preferred a prong collar for training Zara. It’s designed to simulate the sensation of a mother dog’s bite, which helps your dog understand that you’re kind of the pack leader. However, it’s important to note that these collars should only be used for training purposes and not as a regular collar.

When using a prong collar, make sure it’s fitted properly and that you’re not pulling too hard. The goal is not to hurt your dog but to get their attention and correct their behavior. Start by using the collar for short training sessions, and always use positive reinforcement when your dog responds correctly.

Dog Training Clicker
A dog training clicker is a small device that makes a clicking sound when pressed. It’s used to mark a behavior that you want to reinforce, such as sitting or lying down.

To use a clicker, you first need to “charge” it. This means you’ll press the clicker and immediately give your dog a treat. Repeat this several times so your dog associates the sound of the click with a positive reward.

Once your dog understands the clicker, you can use it to train new behaviors. For example, if you’re trying to teach your dog to roll over, you would click the clicker when they start to roll over and then give them a treat. With practice, your dog will learn to associate the number of clicks with the desired behavior and will start to perform it on command.

Dog Training Whistle
A dog training whistle is another helpful tool for training your pup. It emits a high-pitched sound that’s easy for dogs to hear, even at a distance.

Dog Training Tips
To use a whistle, start by teaching your dog to associate the sound with a treat. Blow the whistle and immediately give your dog a treat. Repeat this several times until your dog starts to look for a treat when they hear the whistle.

Once your dog understands the whistle, you can use it to get their attention or to teach new commands. For example, you could blow the whistle and then give the command “come” to teach your dog to come when called.

So grab your pup, some treat, and get start on your training journey asap.

Why You Should Consider Using QR Code Tags for Your Pets
Last summer, I was out for a walk with Zara when she suddenly slipped out of her leash and ran off. I was frantic, searching the neighborhood for her and calling out her name. But after several hours of searching, I still had no luck.

That’s when the FOUND ME Pet Tag I had attached to her collar came to my rescue. I had signed up for the service a few months earlier, after hearing about it from a friend. The tag had a QR code that anyone who found Zara could scan using their smartphone. Once the code was scann, a notification was immediately sent to me and 5 additional emergency contact that I had provid.

Within minutes of receiving the notification, I was able to start a multilingual chat with the person who had found Zara. We exchanged messages without sharing any confidential information such as my phone number or address. Instead, we communicated through the app, which allowed us to discuss Zara’s whereabouts and how we could arrange for her safe return. After a quick video chat to confirm that the dog was indeed Zara, the person who found her was able to bring her home safely.

The FOUND ME
The FOUND ME dog tag service not only helped me reunite with Zara but also gave me peace of mind knowing that if she ever got lost again, there was a way for me to be quickly alerted and get in touch with the person who found her.

As a subscriber to the service, I also found it useful to use the FOUND ME app to record Zara’s vet appointments, her microchip number, and her vaccine history. This allowed me to keep all of her important information in one place and easily accessible. Additionally, the app allow you to generate and print a multilingual lost pet poster with a QR code that can be scann by anyone who finds your pet.

Overall, I highly recommend the FOUND ME dog tag service to any pet owner who wants to ensure the safety and well-being of their furry friend.
