For smooth business operations, it is vital that the companies should have an ongoing backup routine that makes the data available in-time, with highest level of reliability. Linear tape open (LTO) is among the industry's top tape storage standard that not only fulfills the current storage demands, but its exceptional scalability addresses the future needs as well.

Sony and Maxell are the largest manufacturers of media products. Both offer a broad range of economical and innovative backup tape devices, which are efficiently serving the customers of workgroups, high end network servers, financial institutions, remote offices, SMBs, audio/video broadcast, data intensive backup applications and government agencies.

I am going to give you a brief comparison about the compelling features of Sony and Maxell branded LTO-4 tape cartridges. Both of these backup media giants manufacture all versions of LTO ultrium tape. Native storage capacity offered by LTO-4 is 800GB. To address the demands of stringent data-retention laws, WORM and encryption capability has been introduced in LTO4 media format. When you have to ...
... manage compliance plans for larger data bases, then it is necessary that you should prevent unintentional alterations, un-authorized usage and accidental data over-writes. Data encryption and WORM are the best optimal solutions for such problems.

Sony and Maxell have developed new media formulation and highly precise manufacturing techniques, which makes their LTO-4 tape cartridges more intelligent and superior to other tape formats. These LTO4 ultrium tapes are engineered for longer durable life and ensure highly efficient backup operations at native rate of 120 Mbps. Part numbers of Maxell and Sony ultrium-4 backup tapes are:

Sony has devised new superior media coating process, which applies the coating layer in a tightly controlled environment to assure ultra fine layer of magnetic coating and uniform surface. Sony LTO 4 tape is built tough to preserve your data for over 30 years with unparalleled reliability. Working life of Sony LTO4 extends over one million passes. Sony has utilized its technical excellence to design new magnetic material known as A3MP Advanced Alloy Armored Metal Particle, which enhances the tape reel's durability and boosts the output frequency.

Maxell LTO 4 tape feature a newly designed leader-pin that assures smooth tape winding, and stabilizes the components of tape cartridge during heavy workloads. The leader-pin enables the Maxell LTO4 tape to exceed the boundaries of reliability with up to 20,000 media loads/unloads. Maxell uses ceramic armor metal particles, which are extremely small sized (one tenth of nanometer). The metal particles allow the Maxell LTO-4 tape to deliver greater backup performance and improved signal-to-noise ratio in harsh working conditions. 3-D cross linking binder technique has further increased the robustness of Maxell LTO-4 cartridge.

Memory chip is a core component of both Sony and Maxell LTO4 tapes, which has been included for improved manageability and high speed data searching. Memory chip improves the performance in tape libraries and automated systems. Maxell and Sony ultrium-4 cartridges offer you more advantageous technologies and reliable features to handle today's challenging data intensive environments.
