Most people who own their homes or apartments do everything possible to make it a safe haven where they and their families can spend many happy hours. This also applies to adding features that can make living in your home so much more pleasant and enjoyable.

Think, for example, of underfloor heating which, for many homeowners in cool and cold climates, is a must. Many long hours in cold homes cannot be good for one, not for your soul and happiness, and often not good for your physical health. That is why many people in the northern parts of the US, people in Canada and many parts of Europe – also the UK – consider underfloor heating as one of those additions, if the house was not built with it.

In new builds you can ask the contractors right from the start to let their electricians lay it down for you, and in those homes where they do not exist from the start, you call in the services of as good, reputable firm of electricians to install an underfloor heating system in your home. Experienced electricians do this all the time and have the knowledge and skills to ensure that your system is up and running in ...
... no time and that it provides your home with the warmth you want in cool/cold weather.

The systems comprise a number of electrical wires or electrical heating mats which are installed underneath the floor surface, whether that is a carpet, laminated flooring or stone and/or tiles. The system can be successfully installed under any of these, and an experienced installer, such as an electrical company, can do this. It may be wise not to rely on a DIY process or a handyman – call in an electrical company that understands all issues that may affect the successful operation of such electrical underfloor heating.

The good thing is that underfloor heating can be installed anywhere you need it, whether it is in your bathroom where you often walk barefoot on bare, cold floors, or in the lounge area of your home, the bedroom(s) or the entrance. It works anywhere and is a good alternative to radiators and other loose standing heating elements, or a heating pad you attach to a wall.

A good electrician takes care to ensure that the system is installed well so that it works effectively and that the chances of the system breaking down, for example, are limited. It starts with putting down floor insulation, which is laid on a layer of screed, which consists of a mix of sand and cement, or on floorboards on joists. This ensures that the surface is flat. Now the heating wires will be connected to the mains supply. Together with the system comes a sensor that will help to regulate the temperature, and the owner can use a thermostat to pre-set the system to turn on and off at certain times, for example, if you do not want to do it manually all the time.

The thermostat is normally mounted on a wall in the room(s) where you have the underfloor heating system installed. Depending on the electricians you are dealing with, you may get a manual thermostat, or one that you can program to switch on and off at pre-determined times, and even Smart thermostats, the latter making it possible to control the system from a distance via a Smartphone app. This makes it possible to switch it off if you forget to do so when you leave your house, or to switch it on before you arrive home – to a nicely warmed up space.

More and more people are now having these systems installed: they are cheaper to run than radiators, and they cause much less clutter in the home. There are some great underfloor heating installers in you region, whether you live in Richmond, London, or Uxbridge, or anywhere else. The best ones advertise their services on their websites today.
