The quantitative ability section is regarded as a difficult nut to crack by the majority of candidates wishing to take the CAT with the help of best online teachers for CAT preparation. Not to mention, it is the most dreaded section among CAT candidates. It is the final section to be attempted, following a two-hour battle with the Verbal and DI-LR sections. Even though the candidates have a good fundamental understanding of the concepts, they are unable to perform well in Quants due to exhaustion and slowness. Some candidates do not know how to manage their time during the exam, and others panic during the exam. Many non-engineering candidates would have lost contact with Quants for an extended period of time.

This is also one of the reasons why most candidates do not perform well in the quants section. There are several common CAT Quant mistakes that must be identified and avoided from the start of preparation. As a result, we've created this blog to highlight the most common CAT Quants mistakes to avoid. Candidates are advised not to make these errors while preparing for or taking the CAT exam. You may make these mistakes ...
... during the preparation phase and should make a note of them so you don't make them again.

Common Mistakes to avoid in Quants Section of CAT
Here are some common mistakes to avoid in the Quants section of the CAT:

1. Not selecting the right questions
The creators of CAT have mastered the art of balancing easy and difficult questions. When reviewing previous year CAT question papers, you will notice that there will be some easier questions that will only take a few seconds to solve! On the other hand, some questions will be difficult to answer, at least within the time constraints. The purpose of having such a diverse set of questions is to assess the candidates' time management and selection abilities. As a good manager, you'll want to start with the low-hanging fruit in the exam.

To do well on the exam, you must master the art of selecting the appropriate set of questions to attempt. You should start with the easier ones and work your way up to the more difficult ones, depending on how much time you have left. The goal of taking this approach is to maximize your efforts. You will not be rewarded for answering difficult questions on the CAT. You should try to answer as many questions as possible. If you get stuck on the difficult questions at first, you will waste time and put yourself under more stress.

There will be times when you choose a difficult question first. And you should be aware that if the question is taking too long, say eight to ten minutes, it is always better to abandon it and move on to the next question. Remember not to panic if you find yourself in such a situation.

2. Not being thorough with the concepts
Most of the time, you will notice that you were unable to answer some questions despite knowing the concept. This indicates that you either do not understand the concept well or are not well versed in concept application skills. As a result, it is always best to go over the concepts thoroughly. Never rely on memorization. Always ensure that you understand the concepts completely. During the first phase of your preparation, devote enough time to understanding the concepts. And, once you've mastered the concept, practice questions related to it. Practicing questions will help you further solidify your concepts.

3. Bad time management
One of the most common mistakes candidates make in the CAT quants section with the help of teachers for MBA Exam is poor time management. Attempting a single question can sometimes make a significant difference in candidates' CAT percentiles. As a result, good time management is required to pass the quants section of the CAT.

Always plan your time so that you can see or go over all of the questions in the quants section. Taking full-length practice tests and mocks will help you improve your time management skills. Furthermore, make certain that you do not leave too many simple questions for the end. This will cause you unnecessary anxiety and panic, and you may miss out on some easier questions.

4. Not reading questions carefully
Consider the following example: You answer a lengthy but simple quants question. Once you've solved it completely, you'll notice that some values appear to be incorrect because you can't get a definite answer. You reread the question and discover that you read it incorrectly the first time. You must now solve the problem using the correct values. However, this resulted in a waste of time. You took ten minutes to answer a question that could have been answered in five minutes or less.

The CAT exam, as you know, has a time limit. Candidates are always rushing through the quant sections, trying to answer as many questions as possible. However, always try to read the questions carefully and take careful notes on the details. You don't want to waste your valuable time on stupid mistakes. Furthermore, pay close attention when answering questions involving complex calculations.

The CAT Quants section contains 34 questions ranging in difficulty from easy to difficult. The majority of the questions are of moderate difficulty. If a candidate remains calm, manages his or her time efficiently, and avoids the mistakes mentioned earlier, he or she can perform well in Quants.

If you are still struggling with the CAT Quants section, CAT online coaching can help. You will receive expert advice from industry experts, complete access to quality mocks with detailed analysis, access to good level practice questions, and learn essential tips and tricks for quickly and efficiently answering Quant questions.
