What is a Valve ?
A valve is a mechanical device that is used to control the flow of fluids such as liquids, gasses, or slurries. Valves can be found in a wide range of applications, from simple household plumbing systems to complex industrial processes.
Valves can have different designs and types, including ball valves, gate valves, butterfly valves, globe valves, check valves, and needle valves, among others. They can be manually operated or automated with the use of electric, hydraulic, or pneumatic actuators. Valves that have passed extensive testing are offered and distributed by Strong Valves.
Types of Valves
Valve types vary in engineering and industrial applications. The following are some of the most frequent types of valves:
Butterfly Valves
Butterfly Valves are a type of quarter-turn valve that are frequently employed to regulate the flow of fluids in commercial and industrial applications. They consist of a spinning ...
... shaft with a circular disc fixed on it that is housed inside a pipe or duct. Butterfly valves are renowned for their straightforward construction, inexpensive price, and rapid functioning.
Gate Valves
Gate valves are a type of valve frequently employed in industrial settings to regulate the flow of fluids through pipes. The wedge-shaped gate that moves up and down inside the valve body to regulate fluid flow gave them their name.
Ball Valves
Ball valves comprise a valve body, a valve element in the form of a ball, and an actuator that controls the position of the valve element. The ball-shaped component is turned 90 degrees when the valve is open to let fluid pass through the valve. The ball-shaped piece rotates back to its initial position when the valve is closed, stopping the flow of fluid.
Specification of valves:

Valve type: There are many types of valves, such as ball valves, gate valves, globe valves, check valves, and butterfly valves. Each type has its own advantages and disadvantages and is suitable for specific applications.

Size: Valves come in different sizes, and you need to specify the correct size to ensure the valve can handle the required flow rate and pressure.

Material: The material of the valve should be compatible with the fluid it is handling. Common valve materials include brass, bronze, stainless steel, cast iron, and plastic.

Pressure rating: Valves have a maximum pressure rating, which is the maximum pressure they can withstand without leaking or failing. You need to specify a valve with a pressure rating that matches the system pressure.

End connections: Valves come with different end connections, such as threaded, flanged, or welded. You need to specify the correct end connection to ensure the valve can be properly installed in the system.
