Tamoxifen Tablets Useful Treatment For Breast Cancer
Breast cancer is a very common disorder that affects many women and even males. There are numerous medications available to treat breast cancer. However, even if breast cancer is cured, it is possible that it will reoccur. Thus, Tamoxifen tablets are used to both cure and prevent breast cancer.
Tamoxifen belongs to the class of medications known as antiestrogens. It can benefit those who have breast cancer that has hormone receptors. This formula is used to treat early breast cancer in women who have already undergone surgery, radiation, and/or chemotherapy, as well as to treat breast cancer that has progressed to other regions of the body, both men and women. Tamoxifen tablets prevent estrogen, a feminine hormone, from acting in the breast. This may prevent the growth of some breast cancers that require estrogen to grow.
Tamoxifen is used not just to treat breast cancer, but also to lessen the chance that women with ductal carcinoma in situ would go on to develop a more dangerous type of breast cancer (DCIS; a type of breast cancer that does not spread outside of the milk duct where it forms). Tamoxifen also lowers ...
... the risk of breast cancer in women who have a higher-than-average risk of the illness because of their age, individual medical history, and family medical history.
Tamoxifen formula is available as a tablet to take by mouth. It is usually taken once or twice a day with or without food. Swallow these tablets whole; do not split, chew, or crush them. Take tamoxifen at around the same time every day. Some people take tamoxifen to lower the risk of developing breast cancer. The daily oral medication stops cancer cells from using estrogen and progesterone to grow and spread.
If you are taking tamoxifen to prevent breast cancer, you will probably take it for five years. And if you are taking tamoxifen to treat breast cancer, your doctor will decide how long your treatment will last. Do not stop taking tamoxifen without talking to your doctor. If you forget to take a dose of tamoxifen, skip the missed dose and continue your regular dosing schedule. Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed one.
