Meet The New Apple’s Mac Mini – The Most Powerful Pc Experience To Date
The Mac mini is equipped with Apple's most recent M2 or M2 Pro chips, which are also utilized in the highly successful MacBook Air and MacBook Pro.
The dimensions of the tiny aluminum box are just under 20 centimeters on each side and less than 4 centimeters in depth, making it roughly the same size as a standard paperback book. It is simple to install virtually any place, such as on a desk, installed under a desk, in a TV cabinet, on the back of a monitor, or adhered to a wall - anywhere that you can access with a power cord.
You can use the Mac mini the same way you would a regular desktop PC by simply plugging it into a screen, keyboard, and mouse – all of which can be purchased together with it for a significant additional cost – or you can use the equipment you already have. In order to set up the mini, I connected a Logitech Bluetooth mouse and keyboard as well as an Asus 4K monitor. I was able to utilise all of these devices without any problems during the duration of the review.
It runs macOS 13.2 Ventura, the same operating system that is found on all modern Macs, and it includes the same screen-sharing ...
... and proximity features as are found on MacBook laptops. That means you can use a current iPad as a second screen, use the associated mouse and keyboard to manage an iPad or other Mac, and use an iPhone as a wireless webcam, which works pretty well. All of these options are made possible by the Smart Connector.

The new M2 and M2 Pro processors offer significant performance improvements over their predecessors, the M1 and M1 Pro chips. These improvements include a 10% to 20% increase in CPU speed and up to a 25% increase in graphics speed. This places them at the top of the heap alongside some of Intel and AMD's current top chips, but at significantly lower power consumption. This is a significant improvement over earlier Intel-powered Macs and represents a major leap forward.
As a result of reaching that level of speed, the Mac mini has evolved from being merely a compact Apple computer into one of the company's more robust and flexible solutions. Those who require more power can get the more expensive M2 Pro model, which comes with an option of up to 32 GB of RAM, although the M2 version will be more than adequate for the majority of everyday computing chores. It is positioned below the Mac Studio, which is an enhanced version of the mini designed for users that want much greater graphics processing power or computer processing power.
The fact that the Mac mini operates in an almost completely silent manner is one of its most appealing features. If you put your hands over the back of the device, you will be able to feel a fan blowing out air gently, but you will not be able to hear it when it is being used normally. When the system is being heavily taxed, such as when playing a game or processing a significant amount of data, the fan is hardly audible and can only be detected if the user is paying close attention.
There is a good number of ports available, but they are all located on the back of the device, which makes it more difficult to access them in order to do things like plug in USB flash drives. There is ethernet, HDMI 2.1, two USB-A ports, and either two or four Thunderbolt 4/USB 4 connectors, depending on the version. Headphone jacks are also included.
You are able to connect up to two monitors at once to the M2, and you are able to connect up to three monitors at once to the M2 Pro. This is more than adequate for even the most intricate desk arrangements.

The Mac mini has forty percent of recycled components, including aluminum, rare earth elements, tin, gold, and plastic. Additionally, the mini contains twenty percent of rare earth elements. In its study, Apple provides a breakdown of the environmental impact that computers have. When in sleep mode, the M2 Pro version draws less than 0.5W of power; when in idle mode, it draws around 3W; when performing light work, it draws approximately 5W; and when under load, it draws up to 50W, with a maximum rated draw of 185W.
