Here, not only will you come to the whole ACS IT skill assessment process, but some other necessary things like assessment outcome, renewals and reapplication, priority requests, application processing time and the like. So, let’s start with the assessment process.

Assessment process:

The authority will review your personal ID documents. After that, it will assess if your educational qualifications or/and work experience are at a professional ICT level and closely relevant to the chosen occupation (ANZSCO) for migration purposes.

The Australian Computer Society will review your qualification(s) to determine the Australian Qualification Framework (AQF) comparability. The course units of your qualification are evaluated to determine whether the professional ICT content is an ICT professional unit or not.

The assessment result will note if your qualification is a Minor, Major or if the ICT content is not enough. An ACS assessor will review which ICT units are considered closely relevant to your chosen ...
... occupation. After that, when your qualification(s) have been assessed, the assessor will then determine the amount of related work experience necessary to fulfill the suitability criteria.

Your employment episodes are then assessed to determine if they are closely relevant and at the appropriate skill level, to your chosen occupation.

To be kept in mind: Because of the complex nature of the evaluation process, ACS can’t advise if your qualification or work experience will be suitable until after the completion of a full assessment.

Assessment outcome:

The authority will issue your assessment outcome in a formal letter by means of mail in PDF format. All successful assessment letters have 24-month validity from the date of issuance and can be submitted to the Department of Home Affairs as proof of your skills assessment. Any unsuccessful assessments will note the reasons for the outcomes and information regarding the Appeal/Review Process.

Renewals and reapplication:

If your initial assessment expires, you will be required to reapply using a new application. An applicant can submit a new application through the Online Application Portal; for this, they need to log into their Dashboard.

Note: When you lodge a new application for an ACS IT skill assessment, any new documents must be renamed for the difference from the ones previously submitted.

Priority requests:

A priority request option is for only Australian visa holders with a deadline of fewer than 12 weeks from the application date. For a priority request, one must upload proof (PDF) of the visa deadline and allow a minimum of 2-week notice from the deadline.

Visa Entitlement Verification Online (VEVO) web page, which shows the visa expiry date

Application processing time:

An application is processed as soon as possible, and any delays depend on the quality of the documentation and information given. It may take nearly between 2 and 4 weeks for processing. A Review Application can be submitted as many times as needed within 60 days of any finalized application. It’s wise to refer to the ACS website for updates about its standard processing times.

Application status:

An applicant will get a confirmation email to their nominated email address after they successfully complete the online application. The confirmation mail will contain their ACS reference number and password instructions which they can use to access their online portal and check the process of their application by means of Application Status on the official website.
