When summer arrives in Atlanta, Atlantans go outside to historic parks in Georgia. To name a few favourite occasions, this includes family picnics, family reunions, and softball games with friends. People can gather outside without spending a fortune thanks to the city's many parks, both large and small.

Check out these low-cost outdoor venues in town and start planning your own quintessentially American event today.

Lynwood Park
This Brookhaven park is ideal for Atlanta residents looking for a low-cost outdoor venue for their next event. There is no shortage of activities with facilities such as a basketball court, playground, tennis court, swimming pool, and plenty of green space. In addition, residents can rent a picnic shelter for $25 per hour, while non-residents pay $50 per hour.

Atlanta Memorial Park
This 199-acre park in Buckhead honours soldiers killed or injured during the Battle of Peachtree Creek in 1864. There is plenty of green space in the park, as well as a playground and a paved trail. The city website states that the green space is available for rent, but no rates are given. ...
... (However, there is enough grass here for a large picnic). However, because it is located in a floodplain, this park floods during heavy rains and may take some time to dry out, making conditions unsuitable for an outdoor event.

Freedom Park
With 210 acres, it's no surprise that this Candler Park green space has plenty of space to host any type of outdoor event (it's currently popular with hammock loungers). This park is easily accessible for any event, connecting such notable communities as the Old Fourth Ward, Inman Park, Poncey-Highland, Druid Hills, Virginia Highland, and Little Five Points.
Many of the park's events are overseen by the Freedom Park Conservancy, but no specific rental spaces are mentioned; most people simply congregate on the grassy hills east of Moreland Avenue. It's simple to spread a blanket, set up some chairs, and gather your family and friends here.

Oakhurst Park
This 8-acre park has a lot to offer for groups on a budget. For Decatur residents, a picnic pavilion with restrooms can be rented for $50 for two hours; for nonresidents, the fee doubles to $100. A playground, basketball court, two tennis courts, two multi-purpose fields, and two parking lots are among the other park amenities.

Washington Park
This West End park is nearly 21 acres in size and includes a playground, tennis courts, paved trails, and a natatorium. Picnic shelters and a 150-person pavilion with water, power, and restrooms are available. The pavilion can be rented for $150 for Atlanta residents and $200 for nonresidents.

Bessie Branham Park
This Kirkwood park has a cool urban treehouse, a large playground, a basketball court, two tennis courts, a baseball/softball field, and a steep hill for climbing or rolling down. A 75-person pavilion can be rented for events for $100 for Atlanta residents and $150 for nonresidents. Take note that the pavilion lacks water, power, and restrooms.

Lang-Carson Park
This 3.24-acre park in Reynoldstown features a picnic shelter, basketball court, and playground. It also has a tee-ball field for rent, though the city website does not specify the cost. The Atlanta Beltline's Eastside Trail is nearby, which is an added bonus.

Adair Park
Adair Park, located southwest of downtown, has two named parks: Adair Park I and Adair Park II. Adair Park 1, the smaller of the two, offers a ball field, playground, and basketball court on more than 6 acres. Adair Park 2 is a 10-acre park with a basketball court, ball field, playground, picnic shelters, and grills. Both parks have green space for rent, though the city's website does not list rental rates. Picnics are welcome.

D.H. Stanton Park
This Local Park and Georgia state historic sites, located in Peoplestown and abutting the future Southside Trail, offers softball and soccer fields as well as a sprayground to beat the heat of an Atlanta summer. The park's pavilion, which can accommodate 30 people and is equipped with water, power, and restrooms, is ideal for smaller groups.

Adams Park
This 158-acre park on Atlanta's southwest side has a ball field, tennis courts, and a swimming pool to keep everyone entertained. A 100-person pavilion is also available for rent for $150 for residents and $200 for nonresidents.
