When your car moving on the track at top speed it has a lot of kinetic force. This kinetic energy is so much that needs to be controlled or it can cause serious injury to the driver and passenger. If you have ever seen a car crash test video you will have some idea of the immense amount of forces that a moving car posses. Now that should make you wonder that when you apply the brakes where does all that energy go? Brake system is not just protecting your life, also the driver surrounding you.

The answer is that the energy frees out as heat in the braking components of the vehicle. And you can imagine that a lot of heat will be generated and it will need to be controlled correctly. Now you know that brake pads are used to stop the car and you will need to replace them when its worn out. But brake pads are designed in flat surface and it is not designed to work individually to release the heats. So how does the heat get released? Well the brake pads are only one half of the braking component. the brake pad requires to release heat through brake rotor

And brake rotors are also designed to allow heat to release freely. ...
... This feature is either a hole or a slot through which the heat, gases and even water can escape when the brakes are applied. Water is present around the brakes when you are driving in wet conditions. The drilled brake rotors have holes to allow the heat to escape. Whereas the slotted brake rotors have slots so the heat will escape better through the slot. The drilled brake rotors have lesser surface area but are adequate for a daily driver. Slotted rotors have more surface area and are good for high performance cars which need advanced braking performance. Slotted rotors though take a high toll of the brake are not designed for regular driving experience. You can see the latest brake rotors at www.ilovebodykits.com.
