When a vehicle moving on the street at top speed it generates kinetic force. This kinetic energy is so much that unless it is reduced in a controlled manner it can cause serious accident on the road. If you have ever seen a car crash test video you will have thoughts of the great amount of forces that a moving car posses. Now, we need to admit a great brake system is important because safety is our primary concern, but how does everything works? Brake system is not just protecting your life, also the driver surrounding you.
The answer is that the energy frees out as heat in the braking components of your car. And you can imagine that a massive amount of heat will be generated and it will need to be managed properly. Now we understand that brake pads are used to control the motion of the car and it will eventually be worn out after usage. But brake pads are flat surfaces and it is not designed to work individually to release the heats. So how does the heat get released? the brake pad is just a part of the whole braking system. After all the brake pad must rub against something to make the car stop. And that something are ...
... brake rotors.
And brake rotors are also designed to allow heat to release freely. The concept is either a slot or a hole through which the heat, gases and even water can escape when the brakes are applied. Water is present around the brakes when you are driving in wet conditions. The drilled brake rotors have holes to allow the heat to escape. Whereas the slotted design have slots to allow the heat to escape. The drilled design have lesser surface area but are adequate for everyday driving. Slotted brake rotors have more surface area and are good for high performance cars which need top braking performance. Slotted brake rotors though take a high toll of the brake are not necessary for regular driving experience. You can see the latest brake rotors at www.ilovebodykits.com.
