Did the plastering in your home have developed cracks? Did you get the plastering done recently? If you are not sure what went wrong, there is nothing to fret about. In this article, we are going to give you the reasons as to why cracks developed in the plastered walls. We will also share some tips on how to prevent the same from happening.

Why Does Plaster Crack During the Process of Drying?
When you are getting the walls plastered, you have to make sure that moisture does not find its way in the plaster. Moisture control is the key here. If there are cracks already in the plaster that means that moisture imbalance has happened. There are other reasons at play as well:

The sand is poorly mixed in the plastering mixture. When you work with a professional they will make sure that this does not happen. They will ensure that there are no particles in the mixture.
If the plastered walls are directly exposed to the harsh rays of the sun, they can develop cracks. As a result, the exterior walls have cracked plasters more often than the interior ones.
When the ...
... plaster comes in contact with the wind, there is a drastic aeration, which leads the plaster to dry in a premature manner, and hence they crack in the long run.
If the bricks surrounding the plaster absorb moisture faster than required then it will cause the plaster to dry faster. This is not a good sign. The plaster has to dry on its own.
Never make the mistake of painting the walls before the plastered has dried off completely. If done this affects the overall quality of the plaster and it starts to develop cracks and chips.

Tips that Prevents the Plaster from Drying Prematurely:
There are few tips that can help the plaster to dry naturally. What are those tips? We have mentioned the important ones below:

Always use high quality paint after the plaster has dried off. Low quality paint has low adhesion properties.
Work with professional plasterer grade mixers. They know what to do, how much sand to use, how to mix and so on. You can rely on them completely for a job well done.
Apply one coat plaster and let it dry properly before you move in to the next layer of coat. Don’t add all the layers at one go.

And in case, you wish to avoid all these stress then get in touch with local Gyprockers Sydney and install a Gyprock. There is no need to plaster the wall at all.
