1. Choosing the Wrong Audience for Your Campaign
Many people fail to think about their audience when they launch EDDM campaign. Your marketing strategy shouldn’t be to target all. EDDM is not going to work for everyone. Hence, you have to use EDDM postcard printing prudently. Research the market, before you compile your postcard.
Customize the message as per the requirement.
Keep in mind that the right audience can become the wrong audience if the timing is not right. So, get the time right. Find out when your mailer is going to land and time it with other events in the area.

3. Using It Only as a Coupon
At times, a direct mail coupon is an incredible idea but unless you have built a relationship with the recipient already, a direct mail brochure printing as a coupon might spur the wrong kind of action.
Surely, you do not want customers who are only looking to save money. Such people are mercenaries and they will drop you as soon as they get a better offer.
4. The Branding is Off
No one likes brand police. But there is something that people hate more. Going belly-up since you cannot be consistent with the message, your customers end up dropping you and people start to hate what you have become.
It might appear to be a little dramatic. It is crucial to be consistent with your marketing message. You need to be able to boil your company done to a single, short, and memorable statement.
Your EDDM postcard should be bound to the core idea-
· Choose the right brand colors.
· Target audiences who are part of the marketing strategy.
· Use an approved copy of messages.
· Give the EDDM its own twist so that it is able to stand alone.
5. Not Personalizing the Direct Mail
People tend to respond better to their names, birthday, and other personal details. You can take the help of technology to get hold of the data before printing the direct mail postcards.
· Include the name of the customers, their anniversary, or birthdate.
· Change copy on the EDDM postcard to keep the message more localized by
referencing sports teams or cities.
· Change the graphics or pictures depending on the demographics or age
of the customers.
