Through drip irrigation with use of soaker hose is the best method to water a flower or vegetable garden. You might find it both fun and easy after getting started though installing this system may look like a frightening task. The water source is the place to begin a drip irrigation system. On the spigot, place a brass hose Y fitting. To make drip much simpler install an automated system by placing a battery timer on the end of Y fitting. Next install a filter to prevent clog up in the system then install pressure regulator. You install a fitting that includes a female hose thread on one side and connects to 1/2" tubing on the other. Insert the tubing into the tip of the fitting to complete the faucet assembly.

The 1/2" mainline tubing can now be run from the faucet to the garden with stakes holding it in place every 4 feet or so. Throughout the landscape, various fittings may be needed to navigate the mainline tubing for more complex areas. A hole should be punched in the tubing near the location of a plant. If the plant is very close to the hole, an emitter could be inserted directly into the tubing. A 1/4" transfer ...
... barb could be inserted into the whole if the plant is further away. Nowadays place blank 1/4" tubing on the other end of the transfer barb. The blank tubing is rolled out to the base of the plant and then an emitter is inserted into the end of the tubing. Using soaker drip line on the other end of the transfer barb is another option. Soaker drip line is 1/4" tubing which has evenly spaced emitters built in the tubing. The soaker hose drip line is rolled out to the desired length and then closed off with a goof plug. In anticipation of all of the plants in the garden are capable to gain water from the drip irrigation system, the process of punching holes and inserting emitters or tubing into them should be repeated. The final step is to close the mainline tubing.
