Kanyakumari City Guide
Kanyakumari is the only place in whole of India, where, you can enjoy the Sunset and Moon Rise simultaneously on a full moon day. The exact spot where all the three oceans meet is called as Thriveni Sangamam and taking a holy dip at this place is said to be very auspicious.
Besides the places of interest for tourism, Kanya Kumari is famous as a sacred place to visit. The city derives its name from the Goddess Kanya Kumari Amman who is the presiding deity in the temple here. This is one of the very few temples in India where the Goddess is worshipped in the form of a small girl called Balambika.
As She is believed to be the Goddess of Sanyasa Dharma (god of ascetics), people who want to become Sanyasins (Ascetics), have to get Her blessings called Deeksha. This temple finds mention in ancient history as the most powerful Shakthi Peeth.
Dress Code
Men should cover their torso or upper body while women should put on full covered Cudidhar or Sari.
Note : Have your dinner before going to the temple as it may take long hours to return back.

Gandhi Memorial
This is a very important place having a pot with the ashes of the Father of our Nation Mahathma Gandhi. On 2nd October (Gandhiji's birthday) the Sun rays fall on the pot as a tribute the great soul. The memorial is really a testimony to contemporary architecture.
Vivekananda Rock Memorial
It is another attraction in Kanyakumari that captivates large number of visitors. It is a grand monument to Swami Vivekananda, the great Indian philosopher. This memorial is only 200 meters away from the beach. There is also a meditation hall; ferryboat services are obtainable to reach the monument. According to myth, it on this rock, Goddess Kanyakumari did Tapas.
Thiruvalluvar Statue
Thiruvalluvar, the immortal poet of Tamilnadu has created Thirukkural. The 133 feet high Thiruvalluvar Statue (including the pedestal) signifies the 133 chapters of the Thirukkural.
Sunrise and Sunset
One can observe the sunrise throughout the year from the Bay of Bengal. From the view tower of Kanyakumari watching the sunset will be the most wonderful experience.
Wax Museum
It is the first wax museum of India which is at the Bay of Bengal. It is 3 km away from Kanyakumari.
Suchindram Temple
This temple is 12 Km away and is dedicated to Lord Thanumalaya swamy. Thanumalaya has three specific meaning, Thanu means Siva, Mal for Vishnu & Ayan means Brahma. It means Siva, Vishnu and Brahma all in one form.
Way To Reach
By Air : Trivandrum is the nearby airport, which is 100 km away and takes 2 ½ hours drive.
By Train : There is also a railway network in Kanyakumari. There are trains to Chennai, Bangalore, Cochin, Trichy, Coimbatore, Tirupathi, Madurai, Mumbai & Jammu.
