Electric Vehicles are taking over the automobile market as it has emerged as a sustainable mode of transport due to high pollution levels and for the betterment of the society. The government of National Capital Territory launched Switch Delhi Campaign in 2020 to make Delhi the EV capital of India. This campaign aims to create mass awareness among the citizen to make a shift from their conventional vehicles to electric vehicles. EVs have no tailpipe emissions and are low maintenance as compared to petrol or diesel vehicles. Delhi Government EV Policy is considered one of the most progressive policies globally. Under the policy, the government has offered subsidies on electric vehicle worth Rs. 100 Crore and has also waived off road tax and registration fees.

By 2024, the government aims to achieve 25 percent electric vehicles among total vehicle registrations. Besides, the focus is also to create an ecosystem of electric vehicle charging stations. To date, Delhi has 2,000 charging stations and the aim is to make station points available in a radius of every three kilometres.

To support the urban mode of transport, Tata Power-DDL is supporting the vision of promoting EVs. Tata Power-DDL has impanelled 12 vendors for the installation of EV charging stations. The shift towards zero-emissions electric vehicles would play an important role in reducing greenhouse gas emissions. Tata Power-DDL believes in the betterment of society and the promotion of EVs is one of the major goals considering the growing air pollution levels.
