Have you ever opened a food item and questioned whether or not it was still edible? After the breakdown of society, this might mean the difference between life and death. Food that can be stored indefinitely is a popular item for preppers. Here is a list of twenty products that, with proper care, can live forever.

Rice

Some individuals have issues with (weevils, notably rice weevils), but if you put the rice in a bottle as soon as you get it, make sure it's dry, and seal it, you shouldn't have any difficulties. Weevils aren't ideal dinner guests, but in cases where they are unavoidable, people in developing nations would often cook the rice with the pests still inside, as they are a good source of protein.

Canned meat is a food product that has been preserved via canning
We often hear about spam, but there are many other possibilities. There is a variety of fish and meat to choose from, including tuna, salmon, chicken, and beef. Protein-rich tinned beef is the ideal survival food to store away. Simply maintain the can's structural integrity, and you'll be good to go.

White Sugar
In ...
... a dry, cool place, it can last indefinitely. Some retailers sell extra-large cans containing 10 pounds of sugar, but you won't need that much. Obtaining sugar is easy; just store it in an airtight container in a dry place, and it will last indefinitely.

Dried beans
Dried beans have a shelf life of up to three years when stored in an airtight container, but the best approach to preserve them is to vacuum-seal them in a mylar bag and add an oxygen absorber.

Body armor
Although this isn't a food item, you'll be sorry you don't have one if the economy collapses. You can get a pretty cheap bulletproof vest these days from many places for even under $200.

Honey
Honey that has been stored for a while may become hard or gritty, but you can still safely consume it. Put the honey in some hot water to treat the problem. Did you know that honey stored in Egyptian tombs for three thousand years is still edible?

Maple Syrup
We're not talking about the kind of syrup you find in stores anymore; we're talking about the kind you make from scratch. Sometimes you can find the pure material in stores, and it may even work; but, if you bring it out years later and find a mold layer on it, all you have to do is scrape it off and you'll be OK. If it has cooled down, simply re-boil it.

Hard Liquor
You can never have too much hard liquor on hand, and the best brands of whiskey, rum, tequila, gin, and vodka are all good choices. Considering the fact that they're at least 80 proof. Bourbon creams actually include dairy and have an expiration date, so use caution while storing them. Creamy alcoholic beverages should be stored in the fridge.

Vanilla Bean Extract
Vanilla Bean Extract  It's safe to assume that the alcohol content of vanilla extract is at least 80 percent. It's simple to create and calls for only two ingredients: your choice of vodka or rum and vanilla beans.

vinegar
Vinegar is manufactured through a fermentation process and so has an infinite shelf life. It's already bad in a sense.  Because of how acidic it is, it will never alter the characteristics.

Milk in Powder Form
Store it somewhere that is both dry and oxygen-free. The USDA seal of approval is everlasting. Once you remove it from its original packaging, it will only last for three months, but you can enjoy it indefinitely if stores right.

Pasta
Ideally, it should be stored in a dry and dark place. Mylar bags and other sealed containers are fantastic oxygen absorbers. Mice, for some reason, like to enjoy spaghetti, so be sure to keep it dry and out of the reach of any pests.

Coffee and tea
The ideal conditions for storing coffee and tea are a dry, dark, and airtight environment. Package it in oxygen absorbers and Mylar bags before sealing it under vacuum. In all honesty, that's the route you should choose. Mylar bags with oxygen absorbers make tea last just as long. Instant coffee can be stored without the need for oxygen absorbers and mylar bags.

Soy sauce
This should be stored in a cold, dark place. Essentially, it will survive for eons.

ghee butter
clarified butter is another name for this product. Remember that it's just butter from which the water has been removed, so keep it away from the stove and any other sources of water or steam.

Spices and seasonings
Defending against moisture is the primary challenge when working with spices and seasonings. Put the seasonings in a mylar bag with an oxygen absorber if you have a considerable supply.

berries and grains
It's better to use vacuum-sealed bags. While many people simply store them in large plastic containers, others worry that the chemicals from the plastic will leach into the fruit.

salt
salt It's crucial to stock up on salt. So many things can be done with it besides eating it.   It won't break the bank to add to your list. A large quantity of dried salt should be kept on hand at all times

Candy
Hard candy specifically. Store it somewhere dark and cool with a tight lid. You'll require the rapid energy from the candy it supplies to eliminate marauders in the upcoming apocalypse!!
