How To Choose A Mechanical Keyboard Switch
How to Choose a Mechanical Keyboard Switch
What exactly are mechanical key switches?
In contrast to the mushy rubber membrane seen on ordinary keyboards, each key on a machanical keyboard conceals a real physical switch behind it. Typing on these mechanical switches is not the same as typing on ordinary ones. The keys have greater travel and are more tactile; you don't have to push the keys all the way down to register them, which makes typing easier on the fingers; and mechanical keyboards have their own distinct sound. They make a keyboard sound.
What are your alternatives?
When you buy one of our keyboards, you may select from a variety of keyswitch kinds. There are various factors to consider while selecting switches:
• How loud do you want your keyboard to be? Do you prefer a clicky or a non-clicky switch?
• Do you want a more fluid typing experience, or do you want to feel a tiny bump when you press a key? Are you looking for a linear ("no bump") or tactile switch?
• How much force do you want ...
... to apply to your keyboard when typing? This is often expressed in grammes of pressure.
If you have pals who use mechanical keyboards, experiment with different keyswitches to determine what feels best beneath your fingers.
