There is no doubt that providing training to employees will be a key activity while implementing an Occupational Health & Safety Management System (OHSMS) using the requirements of ISO 45001:2018. However, ISO 45001 awareness training can sometimes be seen as a necessary evil of the implementation process rather than an activity that provides actual benefits for the organization. This could not be farther from the truth; occupational health & safety (OH&S) training can give real benefits to any organization. Here, mentioned the top seven ISO 45001 awareness training benefits.

The ISO 45001:2018 standard specifies some information in clause 7.3 Awareness that employees of an organization must be aware of however OHSMS training has advantages above simply satisfying this requirement. Seven of the top advantages of receiving quality ISO 45001 training are listed below:

• Better worker buy-in – Employees are significantly more likely to be helpful with the implementation of new processes and better able to adapt to adjustments in current processes when they understand why you are introducing an OHSMS ...
... and how it works. Common organizational goals, such as the OH&S policy and objectives, can also support workers in recognizing that workplace safety and enhancing OH&S performance are everyone's responsibility.
• Better process conformity – When process changes are required, employees must be trained on the details of the changes. When everyone is consistently taught the process requirements, the processes will be consistent. This is significant because consistent processes enable you to not just better manage hazards and risks to OH&S, but also to develop more consistent products and services. This benefits not only OH&S performance but also the bottom line of the organization.
• The common understanding of OH&S outcomes – Employees become aware of the implications and potential penalties of not following the OH&S rules for the job when they are trained in the OH&S aspects of their jobs. No one wants to be injured at work, and training that emphasizes why regulations and safety controls are in place, as well as what happens when these protections are not employed, will identify workers who need to be involved to preserve their safety and avoid accidents and injuries. This training can be delivered in any format you like, such as short videos.
• A safer workplace – One thing that employees must be aware of is the hazards and risks that apply to them. Workers who are trained in the hazards of their jobs are better equipped to prevent situations that could result in harm or illness. Because people who work in a process know the process better than anyone else, this exercise has the extra benefit of assisting you in identifying other hazards that may have been missed in the initial evaluation.
• Accident prevention – One aspect of ISO 45001 awareness training that must be included in the emphasis on workers' ability to withdraw themselves from hazardous work conditions. This training can make workers more aware of conditions that pose an imminent and serious threat to life or health, allowing them to better detect scenarios that may lead to accidents in the first place. Every person must ensure everyone's safety.
• Fewer repeat accidents – Workers acquire a greater understanding of what went wrong so they can contribute to fixing the problem and preventing it from happening again through training and knowledge of the conclusions from accident investigations. This includes putting preventative measures in place for procedures that are comparable to those where an accident occurred.
• Culture of improvement – Professionals can encourage continuous improvement throughout the business when workers realize that the OHSMS is all about making their workplace safer and that they can play a significant role in improving the workplace. When processes are made more effective as well as safer, this can not only improve company OH&S performance but also help to save time, money, and resources.
