Now, more than damaged electronic equipment, working electronic equipment donates more to E-waste. The purpose being, as newer technologies are rolling out, the present working electronic equipment loses its charm. People can’t struggle buying the latest technology that offers well and newer features. The tech inventors remain to build advanced equipment that makes life easier and more comfortable, but as a by-product of this, an incredible amount of E-waste is created. Which makes e-waste management a tough challenge.
Living in the period of artificial intelligence and automated systems, due to which vast amounts of chips, sensors are being produced, thus knowingly contributing to E-waste. Some of the other e-waste problems are health risks, poor awareness about how to dispose of e-waste, the high cost of setting up recycling facilities, etc. E-waste management awareness training will help to gain knowledge and understanding of E-waste, its classification, sources, and effects on humans and the environment as well as E-waste related all significant international conventions, and also get familiar with safe and environmentally ...
... friendly methods for handling, segregation, storage, recycling, re-use, and disposal of e-waste which are very vital for e-waste management at the individual and organization levels as well. In order to deal with the current situation certain e-waste disposal methods, so let us look into these methods.
Landfilling: This is the most communal methodology of e-waste disposal. Soil is excavated and trenches are made for interring the e-waste in it. An impermeable liner is made of clay or plastic with a leachate basin for collection and transporting the e-waste to the treatment plant. However, landfill is not an environmentally sound procedure for disposing off the e-waste as toxic substances like cadmium, lead and mercury are released inside the soil and ground water.
Acid bath: Acid bath contains soaking of the electronic circuits in the powerful sulphuric, hydrochloric or nitric acid solutions that free the metals from the electronic ways. The recovered metal is used in the manufacturing of other products while the dangerous acid waste finds its ways in the local water bases.
Incineration: This is a measured way of disposing off the e-waste and it contains fire of electronic waste at high temperature in specially designed incinerators. This e-waste disposal method is quite beneficial as the waste volume is decreased extremely much and the energy gained is also utilized distinctly. However, it is also not free from disadvantages with the release of the harmful gas’s mercury and cadmium in the environment.
Recycling of e-waste: Mobile phones, monitors, CPUs, floppy drives, laptops, keyboards, cables and joining wires can be re-utilized with the help of the recycling procedure. It contains dismantling of the electronic device, separation of the parts having dangerous substances like CRT, printed circuit boards, etc. and then recovery of the valuable metals like copper, gold or lead can be done with the help of the effective a powerful e-waste recycler. The most critical thing here is choosing the right kind of recycler that does not break laws and handle the e-waste in the eco-friendly method.
Now, there are many e-waste recycling businesses coming up with the pickup facilities collecting obsolete electronic items from homes. Also, they are running many recycling programs for the users, retailers and manufacturers for the collection of the electronics.
Reuse of electronic devices: This is the greatest necessary e-waste recycling procedure where with slight modifications the mobile phones, computers, laptops, printers can be reused or given as second-hand product to the other person. The old electronic devices can also be donated in the several charity programs and thus helping the persons in necessity. Moreover, there is a well way also by selling the old mobile phones or laptops to some recycling and refurbishing businesses.
