Pet Owners Often Go To Great Lengths To Ensure Their Pets Are Offered The Best
People that truly love their pets and appreciate their presence in their life, are afforded that same love and appreciation – even admiration – tenfold by the cat, the dog, or whatever pet they are raising and care for.
Animals are not only intelligent – their instincts also play a big part in terms of how they bond with their owners. This bond is established when the pet is a baby and can last a lifetime – either that of the pet or its owner. Love, mutual respect and caring for the other, normally form the basis of these relationships. This means, too, that owners care about more than offering their pet a safe and warm place to stay where they can eat, play, rest, and be part of the family. It means that owners are responsible for the pet’s healthcare as well, a responsibility which those that love their animals, accept as much as they care about their own health, or that of a family member, a spouse, or a child.
Therefore owners make sure they take their new, young pet to meet the vets for a first consultation when they first arrive in the household. At this consultation the vet and young animal experience ...
... their first introduction, which forms the basis for future visits, either for the pet’s regular booster shots, or when it is not well and needs medical care. The pet will get to know the vet and relax in his/her presence after a while – some of them even when the owner leaves the room.
A good owner is responsible in many ways and makes sure that their pets do not get pregnant without having planned for homes for the babies, such as in the case of, say, thorough-bred animals. They will also not put their pet through various pregnancies if this may affect the pet’s health negatively. Therefore they take the animal in to be neutered or spayed so that there is proper control.
They also look at options such as PennHip testing, and general wellness testing procedures during which the vet can establish whether the pet is a candidate for future hip dysplasia and other conditions which, with early intervention, can be avoided or controlled. It is not different from how owners treat themselves and their families; their pets deserve the same care and concern. Showing concern actually strengthens the bond, and that is really why most of us keep a pet: to shower it with love and to have it as a companion – in addition to keeping it as a working dog, fie example.
When your pet is unwell you will know it. Their body language will tell you: they may stop eating, look sad and refuse your attention. Or there may be outwardly signs such as an animal that bleeds, cries or complains, or one that moves with difficulty. The owner should not wait, but treat some of these as emergencies and with the urgency that they deserve. A booking must be scheduled and the severity of the situation explained to the front office, for the vet’s earliest attention.
There are also times when an animal is just too sick or injured to be moved to the clinic – or too old. In such cases, if your vet does house calls, approach him/her for help. Some vets, whether they have their rooms in Kersey, Greeley, Brighton CO or elsewhere, do offer this service, especially when they know an owner and their pet well. Of course it may not be possible for the vet to react immediately, but when you have this type of professional relationship with your vet, he/she may well be willing to do a house call – even outside of normal hours.
Our pets deserve the best, and that includes high-quality medical care and attention at all times.
