Things To Consider While Booking Flight Tickets To Andaman
Are you thinking of a pleasant getaway from the chaos of the city and Andamans on your mind? Then we are here with all the crucial information you need for your trip.
When it comes to reaching the islands, taking a flight is the only option and is best, as it is convenient and saves time. Flight tickets to Andaman are going to be your most significant expenditure throughout the trip. Most people have limited time on their hands; they want to make sure their schedule runs smoothly, and they are on leave. Flights would definitely cause a dent in your pocket, but it would be feasible. It is preferred by most tourists and is the fastest way to reach.
We are here with a list of things you should consider while booking flight tickets to Andaman.
Departure Airport
The place from where you would be flying to Port Blair also matters a lot. It will decide how expensive your flight ticket is going to be. You would think direct flights would be cheaper, but it is only sometimes the case. Firstly, direct flights are only available from Chennai, Delhi, Banglore, and Kolkata. These airports have high demand due ...
... to limitations, and therefore, the price of the ticket is high. Now, you would think that if you travel to any one of these airports and take a direct flight from there and it would be cheaper, then you would be wrong. If you opt for connecting or hopping flights, then it may cost you less.
The airport to be reached is Veer Savarkar International Airport, Code: IXZ.
Other details regarding flights-
From Mumbai: Multiple flights are available from Chhatrapati Shivaji International airport, Code: BOM, with a stoppage at Chennai. No direct flights are available. Flights are available from various airlines—Spicejet, Indigo, GoFirst, AirIndia, Vistara, etc.
From Bangalore: Few flights are available from Bengaluru International airport, Code: BLR, that are direct and don’t have any layovers. Mostly from GoFirst Airline. Multiple hopping flights are also available.
From Chennai: Weekly, 63 flights fly from Chennai to Port Blair. They are direct, and you can catch them from the Chennai International Airport, Code: MAA and are available from various airlines.
From Kolkata: Dozens of direct flights are available from Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose International Airport, Code: CCU, to Port Blair every day. From here also, 63 flights are available every week. Almost every airline serves, and you can choose from them.
On weekends, especially on Fridays, the prices are super high, and you should avoid booking flight tickets at that time. Weekdays are the best way to save a lot of bucks.
Things to keep in mind when arriving at Veer Savarkar International Airport:
1. The airport has a single runway and only one arrival and departure gate.
2. It is a quite small airport.
3. Consider checking the check-in time of hotels. It is usually at 10:00 and Check-out at 8:00.
4. If going directly to Havelock Island, do not forget to check the ferry timings and book accordingly.
5. It is compulsory to reach the harbor one hour earlier.
6. Between the change of flights, keep a layover of at least 3 hours.
a.) Season
The timing, the month, and the season when you are traveling matter a lot. These things will decide the cost of your tickets. The months between September to May are considered high season, and the tickets during this time will be costly due to heavy demand. A lot of people travel there during this season. The airlines usually hike the rates, and finding a ticket under 7000 would be difficult.
It would help if you traveled during the low season between June and September. You will find the lowest prices of tickets during this time.
b.) Buy Tickets in Advance
Planning any trip efficiently saves more money. You should do this with your ticket booking, too—plan in advance and book in advance. Booking one month prior is the bare minimum; you should try to book before 4-5 months at least. This will help you in saving a lot more money as you would get the tickets for a lower price.
c.) Flexible Departure Dates
You should consider being flexible with your departure dates because shifting a day here and there could save you anywhere between 1000 to 6000 rs. As mentioned earlier, avoid traveling during weekends, as a lot of people plan short trips during that time. So, if you are wanting to travel on a budget, then you must avoid this.
d.) Flight Ticket Sales
Large airlines like Air India, SpiceJet, and Jet Airways host flight ticket sales. You can get tickets to Andamans for as low as Rs.5000. To know when these sales happen and other such details, you can subscribe to their emails and newsletters. For this thing to work out for you, you need to have flexible dates.
e.) Buy After Midnight
We have noticed that many airlines lower their prices after midnight. You can try to book after midnight and see your luck because this trick may not work every time.
f.) Non-refundable Tickets
If you want to budget more on your tickets, then opt for a non-refundable ticket. Be sure with your dates and schedule, and you can give this a shot. This would be cheaper, but you won’t be able to make any cancellations or changes later. You should also be aware of the terms and conditions of your ticket in general.
Conclusion
The prices of your tickets will vary a lot, depending on the season and your route. What you can do is, plan your trip in advance whether it is booking any tour packages for Andaman or booking flight tickets. Travel in the off-season, and you can save half of the ticket prices. Save this list to reference later! Andamans is a beautiful place, and we hope you will enjoy your journey there.
