Adjectives Lesson Plan
This lesson plan for English allows students to practice using adjectives in their sentences to describe nouns. Students will explore different types of adjectives to describe feelings, numbers, colour, size, quality, and shape. All the printable materials are included allowing you to teach effortlessly, including some flashcards and an assessment worksheet to check your student’s understanding at the completion of the lesson.

1. Contractions Rainbow Matching Cards:
These 63 rainbow contraction cards and 126 matching clouds will help your students recognise, read, spell and use contractions. Students will choose a rainbow card that contains a contraction. Then they must find the two words on the cloud cards that form the given contraction and place them under the rainbow.
2. Compound Words Matching Cards:
Contains 150 compound words matching cards that will teach your students how to recognise and build 50 compound words. Students will use the cards that each contain a word and picture that can be matched with another card to make a compound word. They will finally find the card that contains the compound word and picture of the new meaning.
3. Consonant Blends Activity Cards:
Provide your students with fun and engaging activities to identify beginning consonant blends! These 30 activity cards are a wonderful addition to your literacy groupwork and rotations. Students must take an activity card and look at the blend and the three pictures on the right hand side. Using a peg or a counter they must identify the picture that doesn’t contain the beginning consonant blend.
4. Ending Blends Literacy Activity Cards:
These 36 activity cards are a wonderful addition to your literacy groupwork and rotations. Students must take an activity card then look at the picture and say the word. Using a peg or a counter they must identify the correct ending blend sound. Then students can pick another activity card and repeat. They should try to complete as many as they can!
5. Past, Present & Future Tense Verbs Activity:
Your students will LOVE this fun and engaging activity to learn about past, present and future tense verbs! These 40 activity cards and 80 verb ‘street sign’ cards will help your students understand verbs in the three tenses to help with their writing and speaking skills. To play, students will choose an activity card that contains a present tense verb. Then they must find the two street sign cards that represent the verb in the past and future tense and place them on top of the signs.
6. Rhyming Words Matching Cards:
Your students will enjoy this engaging activity to learn about rhyming words! These 24 activity cards and 48 picture cards will help your students recognise plenty of rhyming words and improve their writing and speaking skills.
7. Short Vowel Literacy Activity:
These 35 activity cards and vowel cards will help your students recognise plenty of words that contain short vowel sounds and improve their spelling and writing skills. To play, students choose an activity card, then look at the picture and say the word. They must find the missing short vowel and complete the word. Students can use plastic alphabet letters or the letter cards provided. Once complete, simply choose a new activity card and repeat. As an extension, students can write a sentence using the word that contains a short vowel on their mini-whiteboards or on a piece of paper.
8. Snakes and Ladders Digraph Review Games:
Your students will review over 50 blends with these fun snakes and ladders games. Includes 10 games that focus on particular digraph groups, each type of blend is colour coded for students to make connections between the same sounds in different words. Each game has a range of different words for students to practice reading and is great for literacy rotations.

9. Uppercase & Lowercase Letter Matching Activity:
Provide your students with fun and engaging activities to recognise the letters of the English alphabet in upper and lower case! These 26 activity cards and 52 matching letters and picture cards are a wonderful addition to your literacy groupwork and rotations.
To play, students will choose an activity card that contains a letter or a picture and two blank boxes. They must find two missing cards that represent the letter as an upper case or lower case letter and a picture card that starts with their given letter. When they have completed one activity card, they can move onto another.
