In order to make Delhi the EV capital of India, the Delhi government launched the ‘Switch Delhi Campaign’. The objective behind the campaign is to appeal to the citizen to make a shift from their conventional vehicles to electric vehicles to combat pollution levels.

The adoption of EVs has a multifaceted impact—both environmentally and economically. Electric vehicles are low maintenance and have no tailpipe emissions or noise pollution as compared to petrol or diesel vehicles.

The ‘Switch Delhi Campaign’ provides subsidies on the purchase of electric two-wheeler & four-wheeler vehicles alongside waiving road tax and registration charges as well.

The Delhi Government has collaborated with DISCOMs to launch a single-window facility for the setting up of EV charging stations in the national capital. By visiting the Tata Power-DDL EV portal or by calling Tata Power-DDL Sampark Kendra, an individual can avail a charging point. After the subsidy scheme, an individual ...
... will have to spend only ₹2,500 for a charging point to be installed for an electric two or three-wheeler. A subsidy worth ₹6,000 is being offered to the first 30,000 applicants for the installation of EV chargers. The installation will be completed within seven working days after the submission. Delhi Government EV Scheme is considered one of the most progressive electric vehicle policies.

Vehicular emissions are one of the main reasons for poor air quality in the national capital. To minimize pollution levels, the government is taking progressive steps. To support the urban mode of transport, Tata Power-DDL is supporting its vision of promoting electric vehicles. To date, Tata Power-DDL has impanelled 12 vendors to facilitate the installation of charging stations and is also facilitating the establishment of public charging stations and battery swapping in its licensed area.

Tata Power-DDL believes in sustainable development for the betterment of society. In commitment to this, the promotion of EVs is one of the major goals considering the growing air pollution levels. The shift towards zero-emissions electric vehicles would play an important role in improving reducing greenhouse gas emissions and improving air quality.
