Mcafee and Webroot are both good at their place and also one of the top software. The comparison between them will make you understand which suits you best. Hence, McAfee vs Webroot distinguishes the two. There are certain factors to consider when you’re buying an antivirus solution for you. This blog will tell you almost all of those factors.

As you know, both antivirus software helps in malware detection and elimination; the first point is how effective they are in malware protection. Also, how they impact the system and their interface and other features are some important factors when choosing one for you. There is an example of the working of both of them. Let’s move to the first factor.

MCAFEE VS WEBROOT COMPARISON
There are a few considerations to distinguish both antivirus solutions.

MALWARE PROTECTION
This feature protects your system against all viruses, worms, ransomware, spyware, and many other threats. It is the main part of the security suite. There is an example of the most recent lab test by AV and AV tests to see which antivirus works best. They both are reputed security ...
... laboratories.

In the AV test, two examinations were held in July and august 2018. The participants were tested against 275 samples of zero-day malware and 19474 samples of general malware. In the results, McAfee was rated 6 out of 6 due to its 100% detection rate against malware in both rounds of the examination. However, Webroot was not included in the AV test.

Also, McAfee received the highest ADVANCED+ award due to its 99.6% protection and low false positive count. Again, Webroot didn’t participate in this test. Hence, in short, McAfee being the winner, provides maximum malware protection.

SYSTEM IMPACT
This is another point that differs both the software. This test include which software puts less burden on the system. Like other computer programs, antiviruses, too, need some percentage of your system resources to work. Hence, computer performance fluctuates when you put any security software into it.

Again, the AV test measures the average percentage of impact they make on the systems. Hence, the test measures the impact on the computer’s regular tasks such as browsing, launching applications, copying files, visiting websites, etc. The impact is considered when the PC gets slowed down.

In this test, McAfee also wins with a 6/6 rating from the AV test. Webroot was again not included in the test. I tested Webroot’s performance, and I observed Webroot has a low impact than McAfee on PC. Webroot has less impact on everyday tasks. But McAfee is more effective in scanning all the threats, as it deep scans the system.

Also, in the recent test in April 2018, McAfee got the highest ADVANCED + award from the experts with a low system impact score of 6.9. McAfee again wins in the McAfee vs Webroot.

USER INTERFACE
McAfee’s user interface was a little complicated and old-fashioned before, which now has fully transformed into a simple, intuitive, and bright color. Five sections are aligned horizontally at the top when you see the interface. These include PC security, identity, and account. There is a home that shows the protection status and has buttons to run different scans. Also, the links for settings support and alerts are there on the right side of the bar.

The top section tabs include necessary features and settings. Coming to the bottom, you will see 2-4 titles for a few tasks, such as setting up true key identity manager, clearing the browser cookies, etc. Plus, the accounts window has information on your subscription plan.

Now let’s move forward to the Webroot’s interface. It might seem a little complicated when you first see the Webroot’s interface. There is a crowdy arrangement of all the features and information. If we describe it, there is a rectangular section that shows the protection status and the information about the last and due scan. A button for the quick scan is also available in the section.

At the bottom is a button to visit the Webroot community to know more about the product. Then, on the left side, there are vertically arranged modules containing features or tools.

Webroot’s interface also includes the advanced settings button placed at the top right corner of the interface that takes you to all advanced options.

PRICING
Pricing is the main part of McAfee vs Webroot. Both offer a trial period when you first sign up, McAfee offers a 30-day trial before you commit to any subscription plan and Webroot offers only 14 days.

Here is the brief of pricing:

McAfee pricing

McAfee total protection (1 device) : $789.99/year
McAfee total protection (5 devices): $ 99.99/year
McAfee total protection (10 devices): $119.9/year
Webroot pricing

Webroot antivirus: $39.99/year
Webroot internet security plus: $59.99/year
Webroot internet security complete: $79.99/year
Webroot business products: $150.00/year
As you can see, McAfee security products are more affordable than Webroot. Once again, McAfee left behind the Webroot.

POPULARITY
Popularity is another big factor in comparing the two software. So, let’s have a look at which is the more popular antivirus. A company called Statista shares regular market reports of anti-malware products. According to their reports of August 2018, McAfee was on the third rank of the top antivirus products, along with an 11.73 market share. In comparison, Webroot took the seventh rank with a 7% market share.

Another company, OPSWAT, provides updates about various antivirus products on the market. Their results in September 2018 were almost similar to Statista’s.

CONCLUSION
The McAfee vs Webroot comparison shows that both the software offers good features and pricing. However, McAfee does little more than Webroot in most of the features. We also found that McAfee has maximum malware protection and minimum impact on the system. Webroot didn’t test for these features. However, the other tests revealed Webroot is slower than McAfee in detecting malware and has more impact on the system’s activity than McAfee. From the results, we can conclude McAfee leads. Although both have high demand on the market, you should know which is best. In the end, we can say McAfee offers more security features and tools than Webroot.
