Pakistan has become a hotspot for many foreigners following vloggers on Youtube. Thanks to these vloggers, people can now see the bright side of Pakistan, which is full of beautiful places, scenic spots, breathtaking mountains, fascinating lakes, and much more. Foreigners visiting Pakistan always have a lot of questions in their minds. Today, I have decided to provide detailed answers to five frequently asked questions. Lets get started.

What is the Dress Code in Pakistan?

You need to dress modestly in Pakistan. There is no specific dress code here. You can wear anything that covers your body, from a shirt to a top to jeans. Western clothes like jeans and shirts are pretty standard in the big cities. Local men and women wear western clothes in beautiful malls and shopping areas. However, if you plan to visit some conservative regions or old country areas, you better wear shalwar kameez. It is a very comfortable dress for men and women, and you can shop for them in the local market or mall. When you go trekking, packing light and wearing casual is recommended for every tourist. Although foreign women aren't obligated ...
... to cover their heads all the time while walking around, they should keep a scarf in their bags. Its for the time when you need to visit religious places in Pakistan.

Is Pakistan Safe for Solo-Female Travelers?

If you are a woman who wants to travel to Pakistan alone, you can totally do that. This country is safe for traveling, especially since you can find good security in the Northern areas of Pakistan. You will see that local men are pretty protective. They will leave their bus seats for you. However, just like in other countries, its common for women to get harassed by men. But you don't need to sit back at all when it happens. You can slap that man and make a scene. Since men are very protective, they will come to help you, and locals will ensure you walk out without harm.

How to Give a Tip in Pakistan?

You may be surprised to see that concept of the tip is not very common here. But it doesn't mean you wont have to follow it. You can tip your driver some extra hundred rupees when he does a great job. Another case is when you are in a restaurant and enjoying a meal. As I told you, people are accommodating there. So, when someone goes above and beyond your expectation, you can give them a tip or gift. However, try not to provide costly tips because it will pressure future travelers and raise the expectations of locals. Stay moderate wherever you go.

What About Religion in Pakistan?

Islam is widespread religion in Pakistan, while Christians, Hindus, Sikhs, and Ahmadis are minorities. If you are an atheist, you shouldn't disclose that. Its better to show that you follow a religion instead of accepting that you don't follow any religion. Show yourself as a religious person, and please don't engage yourself in non-Islamic talk. Pakistani show low tolerance if you speak against their religion and especially against their Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). Although atheism is not illegal, its punishable by law.

Should Vegan and Vegetarians travel to Pakistan?

In my humble opinion, Pakistan is the best place for everyone. But when you are on a vegan diet, it becomes a bit challenging to travel here. Its because most foods have butter and ghee. Its ubiquitous in Pakistan that the same pot is used for cooking meat and vegetables. If you are strict about your diet, you should better rely on yourself for cooking or go to places where you can ask them to cook your meal without ghee and butter.

How Hospitable are Pakistanis?

Pakistani are very hospitable people. No matter where you plan to book hotels in Pakistan, you will find that staff is courteous and very friendly. They will answer your questions about car rental, tourist attractions, etc. Many hotel managers offer currency exchange services. If its hard for you to arrange a car rental, you can get help from the hotel staff. Pakistanis regarded guests as blessings from Allah; therefore, they treated them quite well. If you don't book a hotel but stay somewhere, you will experience many good things. For example, if you are sharing a room with boys. They would be ready to sleep on the floor while offering you ample space for resting on the bed. No matter how busy they are, they would be prepared to spend time with you and show you all around. They will tell you what places to go and what to avoid. Besides, you would be showered with gifts from them. You can take advantage of the locals hospitality for some time, but you shouldn't do it all the time. Keep in mind that it is not a place where you will get everything free. As a foreigner, you must be reasonable. Don't take anyone for granted.
