What are PBMCs and their types?
PBMCs are Peripheral Blood Mononuclear Cells. It is a group of round, nucleated blood cells with special functions in modulating immunity in humans to defend against infections and diseases. Human PBMCs comprise monocytes, dendritic cells, macrophages, and lymphocytes (T-cells, B-cells, and NK cells). It is isolated by density gradient centrifugation to remove red blood cells and granulocytes from peripheral whole blood samples.

Applications of PBMCs in research?
Nowadays, in medical and biomedical research, PBMCs are extensively studied to understand the behavior of the immune cells when exposed to pathogens and other immunological disease conditions. Following are the main areas where PBMC cells are greatly utilized.
● Autoimmune diseases research
● Genetically engineered immune therapy for personalized medicine
● Vaccine development
● Toxicological studies and drug discovery
● Regenerative medicine
● Infectious diseases research
● Cancer research and therapy
● Biomarker studies
● In-vitro disease modeling
...
... ● In-vitro diagnostic research and more
