Common Problems You Can Troubleshoot Before Calling Ipad Repair
A few months ago, you and several hundred thousand Apple devotees went out and snatched up the latest release, the iPad. And, as what always happens traditionally with new releases, there are problems. Glitches, incompatibilities, and a host of plug-but-did-not-play syncing problems have been flooding the hotlines for Apple repairs. Now, a list of common problems has been assembled and simple solutions offered that you may want to read before running off to your local recognized iPad repair center.
One of the most widely reported syncing problems that has been reported by the iPad repair hotline is the fact that the unit may not charge while connected to a computer. The important thing to keep in mind that not all computers, even those made within the last few years, are compatible with charging anything through an USB port. Even the iMac, one that does comply with battery charging can only trickle charge the unit. The best charge is through the charger that can with it, not through the USB port, according to most support techs familiar with Apple repairs.
Next, is the news that the iPad will not work with Tiger, ...
... otherwise known as OS X 10.4, one of the popular operating systems from Apple. This apparently came as a surprise, especially since the unit will work with Microsoft operating systems dating back as far as Windows XP. With Apple OS, however, it only recognizes two generations back. To sync properly, you will need to upgrade your operating system from Tiger to Snow Leopard, a generation the iPad will recognize, according to support at Apple repairs. A little pricey, but it beats not having your toy while it is in for an unnecessary iPad repair.
Another common complaint is that iTunes will hang up from time to time, especially when trying to sync photos to an iPad. The main symptom of this complaint, as far as Apple repairs is concerned, is that the App will roll along with no problems, and then suddenly stall for minutes to hours on end. What is happening, according to support for iPad repair, is that iTunes can get confused when dealing with files from different peripherals, and can freeze. A quick fix is to simply open the photo folder that iTunes is synched to, and look for the cache folder for peripherals other than your iPad, and delete them.
The last common problem we will be looking at is error messages on the iPad when trying to synchronize with a Windows 7 computer. Again, this is a case of confused technology and Apple peripherals. Some motherboards based on the Intel P55 chipset that run Windows 7 have trouble distinguishing the iPad from the iPod. This is happening at a deep level within the operating systems, and may or may not be fixed with a soft reset.
If not, you may have to contact support for an alternative fix. If not, you may have to take it into an Apple repairs center for further help.
It may be frustrating when your beloved new tech toy stops working as cool as it used to, even if it was just last week, but it happens. If you have bought Apple before, you know that things do not always work out as planned, but, if what is currently happening with your unit has been covered by these suggestions, then you are on the way to having fun once more. If not, it may be time to call your local repair center for help.
