Increase Engine Oil Performance Manifold With Quality Engine Oil Additives
Engine oil additives are critical for enhancing the performance of your engine oil and ensuring that the motor parts are in proper working function.
The life of engine oil and its performance can be enhanced by infusing additives into it in the right proportions. Such additives serve many purposes such as improving the oil viscosity and reducing friction to better the engine performance etc. They are also useful in enhancing engine oil performance under extreme temperatures. They can be used with both synthetic as well as mineral engine oils.
Why are additives important for your engine oil?
There are many types of engine oil additives such as friction modifiers, corrosion inhibitors, viscosity improvers etc. indeed companies creating such additives spend hours and money in finding out the best formulations so that when they are used in engine oil, the desired results can be achieved. It is to be noted that most of the engine oils available in today’s market contain about 15 to 20 percent additives. The reason why such additives are added is because they are ...
... so essential to help an engine carry out its critical functions. Actions such as wear, oxidation and decomposition can make the oil to degrade over a period of time.
One key feature to be noted about engine oil is that it can help prevent corrosion which is very essential for a part's longevity and its proper functioning. The acid that is naturally present in engine oil can harm the engine over a period of time, but when the oil is treated with additives, the oxidation process is inhibited thus preventing corrosion.
When these additives are used in motor oil, they will enrich the base oil with antifoam agents, corrosion inhibitors, antioxidants and demulsifying agents. They constitute about 0.1 to 30 percent of the entire oil quantity, depending on what type of machine needs the oil. Engine oil must be clean as only then will it work optimally and this cleanliness can be maintained by the use of engine oil additives such as detergents. They will remove deposits that stick to engine parts and also neutralize the impurities and acids generated during oxidation.
A well working engine can get frequently overheated but this is a problem that can be prevented by the use of additives. These additives will make oil coat more evenly on the engine which inturn reduces friction and also overwork. So no matter what the temperature outside, be it very hot or cold, these additives ensure that there is proper oil viscosity in the engine thus preventing engine overheating.
