When dipping your toes in the massive NFT pool, knowing which marketplace to choose can be confusing. See below for our top ten best NFT marketplaces and what to know about each of them.

OpenSea
OpenSea is a trustworthy marketplace and great for beginners. It’s usually the place where those who dabble in NFTs. They are one of the leading marketplaces for overall NFT sales, being the largest marketplace thanks to its ease of use and the option for lazy minting.

The best choice for OpenSea is Metamask or True Wallet and will allow you to view the NFT you bought on your account on OpenSea and in the Collectibles area of Trust Wallet.

Axie Marketplace
Axie Marketplace is the marketplace for the famous NFT video game, Axie Infinity, where players are allowed to train, breed, and purchase Axies to earn rewards and much more. The really cool thing is that players can buy different assets including digital lands, NFTs, and new Axies. Their tokens are called Axie Shards and are built on the Ethereum blockchain to be sold in many NFT marketplaces and even Coinbase Global.

Larva Labs

... up, we have Larva Labs, famous for being the creators of the Cryptopunks NFT project. Though they were given for free for a time, they have been hyped to the point that they’ve sold for millions since then. They are currently sold out, but you can find many of them being resold and traded worldwide. Larva Labs still has some exciting projects in their marketplace worth checking out.

NBA Top Shot Marketplace
If you’re a basketball fan, you’ll become addicted to NBA Top Shot.

NBA Top Shot is the leading NFT marketplace, including both the NBA and WNBA’s NFT store, where you can purchase video clips, play highlights, and basketball art.

Bear in mind that NBA Top Shot Marketplace is built as a closed marketplace, which only allows the Flow blockchain. Top Shot only allows you the option of buying and selling.

Rarible
Rarible is OpenSea’s main counterpart and one of its competitors, and unlike the previous marketplaces, it’s a general NFT marketplace and not a niche one.

In Rarible, you have to use their own token, which has the same name. The marketplace is supported on the Ethereum blockchain. Rarible has been able to secure great partnerships with large companies including; Adobe, Taco Bell, and many other notable companies.

SuperRare
SuperRare was originally launched in 2018, in which it has allowed people to collect and trade single-edition digital artworks and has generated over $90 million in sales for artists across the world. The NFTs purchased on SuperRare can also be sold on OpenSea.

Foundation
Foundation is a particular NFT marketplace because it’s an invite-only marketplace. Sales are made on Foundation using Ethereum, and its exclusivity makes it easier to filter lower-end artworks from committed artists. To get invited, you should submit your work on the foundation Discord, join an invite train or even have some connections with an existing member who’s had some sales and can find you a code. This marketplace is best for artists instead of traders due to its unique nature.

Nifty Gateway
Nifty Gateway is a leading marketplace known for hosting the sale of one of the most famous, and most expensive NFT artists, including Beeple, and musician Grimes. This platform is powered by Gemini, the cryptocurrency trading platform employed by the New York State Department of Financial Services. Nifty Gateway allows you to purchase, buy and sell crypto-collectibles instantly with a credit card, without using gas.

Mintable
Mintable is a marketplace famous for being backed by billionaire Mark Cuban, aiming to become similar to OpenSea. Mineable uses Ethereum and also supports minting of NFTs for any creators, even musicians, photographers, and writers, who’d like to sell their work as a digital asset.

Theta Drop
Theta is one of the newer NFT marketplaces, making its debut in 2021 with its major collection, the World Poker Tour’s digital collectibles. Theta was created to distribute TV and video online, employing blockchain technology supported by Binance and their crypto wallet app.

As you can see, not every NFT marketplace works the same, and some even run on different cryptocurrencies than Ethereum.

If you’re starting, we highly recommend you use OpenSea, though that doesn’t mean you won’t find success in other marketplaces. Take the time to savor each and choose whichever one or three works the best for you.
