Lehenga Trends All 2022 Brides Must Know About!
While most of the world embraced minimalist, small weddings in the previous year, Indian brides have managed to be full-blown maximalist – with various dupattas embellished in gold and jewels. With a limited budget allotted towards the venue and the guests, more was presented to the outfit of the bride. However, for all the conventional Indian events and late-night dancing that the brides had to sacrifice, they more than made up with the heavily-embellished and colourful velvet lehengas they walked down the passageway.
Chikankari lehenga
Chikankari is one of the most traditional and popular styles presented by the Mughals. It is classic handwork that now has become a favourite of every Indian woman. It is known for the rich look and sheer elegance they exude. Though the chikankari lehenga only began as white-on-white embroidery work, it has embraced the usage of colours at present. Be it sharara and gharara sets, puja suits, lehengas, or anarkalis, the contemporary designers are instilling the charm of this delicate art form with sequins, mokaish, and several ...
... other embellishments.
Black lehenga
Due to the simplicity and timelessness, women are now choosing various types of lehengas for festivities. While some rely on the typical pristine whites, others prefer a black lehenga or ones with striking hues like greens, lavenders, and pinks for haldi, mehndi, and various other pre-wedding rituals.
Conclusion
Instead of fighting against it, the Indian brides are now ready to lean into the times people live in, with some twists to the long-time classics. Indian brides conventionally wore the sacred red colour as a sign of prosperity. However, the modern brides are throwing on emerald shades, bright fuchsia, yellow, and in some cases, a combination of all the above in a velvet lehenga.

Shreya Patel ventured into the field of professional fashion design and established the hugely successful design house, RAAS, in her 50s. She dived into the fashion industry in 2016 when she started a one-of-a-kind online boutique experience by curating artisan-quality outfits from India and selling them in the US. But eventually, Shreya realized that this was not fulfilling her mission of growing together, supporting the artisans, and empowering women. Hence, she decided to pursue further education at Parsons School of Design. It was amidst the pandemic that she started her own design house with the intention to support the artisans who had lost their jobs, and that marked the beginning of the socially sustainable label RAAS, The Global Naari. Given the tremendous fame and love her designs received in the United States and internationally even during the pandemic, her daughter decided to join her mission. The duo recently introduced Tanisi, a Western casual label focusing on making sustainable, high-quality designer fashion accessible and affordable.
